AUTEL EVO II & DRONELINK REVIVED

Dave Hogle

I'm bring this back up because my OP has been dormant for a while.

Apparently some have gotten the EVO II & DL working but I can't get to work.

I'm an Elite member and I purchased a iPad just for DL. I know its beta but I've got nothing working.

The app loads fine, connects, have video - all looks good just unresponsive.

All I get is a hover and then it times out saying unable to reach checkpoint.

Just this morning I tried again. First I verified all FW & App were up to date.

I tried a short new mission PLUS I ran a path marking four points and no video or photos, just a basic flight.

Returned to home point and attempted to run - same results.

Jim and others have been helpful but I just can't get what is wrong.

Anyone in Central Florida flying an EVO and using DL? It so I'd like to talk / communicate.

New refreshing thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome.

BINGO!! Ran Updated Test 3 twice, worked as it should.

Also ran one other plus created one and it too flew fine.

Thank you so much for hanging in with me thru all this. Now I can start experimenting / testing.

Your a champ and now you know if this comes up again. I may change some settings back to see which one had the effect.

Ok just want to confirm,  Autel is now supported in the latest release of the Dronelink app?   I am still trying to understand what virtual stick waypoint missions are,  is there a page on the site with the features that I can do in the dronelink app  that the Explorer app can't do.  I am extremely interested in this app

Is the ability to setup  Orbit Mission available on the Evo 2 Pro in the new drone link app?  Also does the EVO 2 Pro stop at waypoints that are suppose to be fly overs?

I read that page, but it doesn't say anything about the type of missions.  I am assuming since it doesn't say anything about mission that is supports the orbit mission now?    Virtual stick missions?   Does that mean, instead of the mission being loaded into the drone like the Explorer Missions does, that any missions created are ran thru the app on the phone to the Evo 2 Pro

Also to test out the app and get use to it,  If I get the Hobbyist Elite and then decide in say 3 months to upgrade to the Starter,  will I loose my Elite membership?

You can't upgrade from a hobbyist plan to a business plan, but you can have multiple accounts if you fly for fun and business.

Awesome. Thanks Jim. Will be getting the Elite today to test out the app.  The orbit one has always been a #1 on my wish list.

Jim, a few more questions i can't find on the website.

    1. at each waypoint does the EVO 2 have the option for Fly Over and keep going without stopping.  Currently the Explorer app  when it gets to a waypoint even though it is set to flyover it will stop for a second and then keep going even when there isn't a camera action.

    2.  on the Evo Explorer app there is a Mission Record option when I can fly and mark waypoints, camera angle and altitude. is there a option like that on this app.  if so what is it called.

Billing question,  Right now I dont have enough commercial work to do a yearly.  sometime I can go a couple of months before doing one.  but when I do one can I pay the monthly then if by the next month i don't have anything can I cancel and then pay again to start another month, when i get another job.   I don't want to do commercial work under a hobbyist license and get in trouble with y'all

Hi Daniel. Hopefully this will help,

Question 1. “at each waypoint does the EVO 2 have the option for Fly Over and keep going without stopping.” The drone does not stop at each waypoint. It will always continue on the path no matter how many waypoints there are unless you add a command to do so.

Question 2. “on the Evo Explorer app there is a Mission Record option when I can fly and mark waypoints, camera angle and altitude. is there a option like that on this app.  if so what is it called “.  The Native app has “On The Fly” Waypoints. Also Several other missions and modes available.

Here is a link to your billing questions. DL should be able to help you with this.

HOLY COW,  just did a test  on a waypoint mission and a orbit mission and HOLY COW that was awesome,  the only thing I still can't figure out if there is a way to have straight line and curves in the same mission though.

holy cow so far those 2 test did things I have been waiting 2 years since I got my drone for.  gong to dive deeper into what it can and can't do

I also had a question If I take pictures/video with my drone and upload them to photo/video hoping someone will buy or license them is that under the hobbies or commercial option

It’s an amazing app and can perform so many functions. Enjoy… As for your questions:

“The only thing I still can’t figure out if there is a way to have straight line and curves in the same mission though.”

Change the default pathing from Bezier Curves to Rounded corners. You can set all of them to whatever corner radius you want to get a nice curved path on all corners. Then click on any waypoint and change the radius to a smaller value like 5° Between two points. It will then have a straight path to the next waypoint. I almost always use Rounded Corners and set them to 150° radius and adjust any from there.

“If I take pictures/video with my drone and upload them to photo/video hoping someone will buy or license them is that under the hobbies or commercial option”

If selling anything it’s considered a business and you would need a 107 license and a business plan.

Thank you, I have my 107 just wanted to make sure about which plan to use.

Since the EVO 2 Pro has to be done by using virtual sticks what happens to the drone when there is a loss of signal while performing a Mission.  I can't find anything about it yet

With a DJI drone in those circumstances it does what ever the loss of signal behaviour is set to, which i have mine set to RTH
