ETA for Mini 3 Pro + RC-N1 Full Support

Saji Darali

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a Mini 3 Pro, which I like due to portability and travel, versus an Air 2S which is fully supported by Dronelink but is less desirable for me to carry to countries that have strict rules on 250+ gram drones. Is there an estimated time for the release of a Dronelink version that fully supports Mini 3 Pro?

Use an Android 12 device, and it works fine.  Android 13 is crash-happy still until DJI fixes the A13 bug.  You could also buy an RC-Pro controller as its not in beta for that configuration.

Dronelink usually does not give estimates since there can be many reasons why. Since the Mini 3’s have already been in Beta for about 4 months or more it’s anyone guess. They just don’t like giving estimates on release dates whether when a Beta version will be out or when it is pushed into regular production version. I Think you will need to take a leap of faith or wait. This is all based on my long term experience using DL and their product roadmap.

Your other option for under 250 gram is the mini 2(the original one, not the se)

Martin Reading I had the Mini 2 but I gave it to a family member who does photography, then later I actually bought a Mini 3 Pro and then sold it to the same family member who lives outside of Canada. After experiencing the Mini 3 Pro photo quality and stamina against high winds, it's hard to go back to Mini 2. So much is packed in a small device like tracking, DJI goggles support, 47 mins flight etc... It's amazing how much it can do.

Regarding the Dronelink app, after some thought about all the options provided in this post, I have decided to presume that I really need the expensive RC Pro controller and enjoy all the benefits that it brings, including the full support of Dronelink now and in the future.

    Thanks everyone.

That is a very nice controller and should not have all the crash problems which I’m sure is frustrating. Of course any device you use can have app crashes but in my long time experience they have been rare with my drone and device combination. I’ve read other post regarding that RC Pro controller and it does appear to be solid. Just be aware it only works with the Mavic 3’s, Mini 3 Pro and Air 2S. DJI may add more compatibility in the future but you will not be able to use it with any other drone at this point. It may not matter to you right now but thought I’d mention it so you are aware of the limitations. 👍🏼 Enjoy.

Can't fault my mini2, a couple of months back it crashed from about 120 feet, had to have both right arm assembly's replaced under insurance, it is now back up and flying, I use an RC-N1 controller in conjunction with either a Galaxy tab 7 FE (nice sized screen at 12.4 inches), this is my default device, LG V50 (running Android 12), Galaxy Fold Z4.

I must say right from the outset the Mini3 hasn't done anything for me, especially at the price point its at compared to the mini2

Victor. Once the plan is downloaded for off-line you don’t need any service whether Wi-Fi or cellular. It saves the mission file and can be flown at any time later. Just make sure you are logged in to the DL app while at home or any other place where you have a Wi-Fi connection and then download it. Also the mass majority of time when the device won’t connect its usually due to another app like DJI app still running in the background. It’s not enough to swipe the app closed it must be force closed. Go into the device settings and look at the apps and notification settings. This link indicates when using controller with screen but I’m fairly sure it’s the same process. Also, it’s always better to force close all other apps still running on the device when using DL otherwise any other app could be using up resources which may slow down the processing of the DL mission. Enjoy.
