Incorrect reporting of no GPS
On 9/3/22 and 9/4/22 I flew 2 simple orbit missions and near the end of both missions I recieved an error msg. saying, "Automatic Control Interrupted The drone must remain in P-GPS flight mode for automatic control". In the screen shot you can see that there are 19 satellites, but you can also see that battery is down to 20%. Why is it giving the wrong error msg. Also not related, but I was able to change the desktop look to "Classic" but I cannot find how to do it again. On 9/3 I flew it under classic but when I flew on 9/4 it was no longer in Classic mode as the screenshot shows.

P-GPS doesn't mean there is no GPS signal - it means the drone is no longer in the P mode. If this happens during the flight this can be caused by two things.
1. The operator moved the switch to something other than P (e.g. Sport or Tripod), or
2. The drone has switched into Return to Home mode.
Option 2 is what happened in your case. The drone reached 20% and RTH was triggered - you can see at the top that your drone is in RTH mode
Hope that helps.
I know that it was in RTH mode, and I assumed that it went into RTH because the battery was at 20%. But, why does it mention anything about GPS, I have run out of battery many times but I never got a msg. about GPS. If I recall correctly it used to say something to the effect that the battery is low and craft will RTH. I initially thought it had something to do with me changing the desktop look to classic, which I did yesterday (and can't remember how I did it) but it did it again today and it was not in classic view. Does anyone know how to change the desktop view?
To change between modern and classic:
Click the hamburger menu top left
select which dashboard you want by clicking on the drop down next to dashboard
I tried that and my only options are "Unit system, mission planner mode, and theme, and none of those work.
So you don't see this, which version are you on
Version 4.0.0 kernel 4.0.0. I was able to do it yesterday. No I don't see that.
very strange, i think i'[d try a reinstall
I think you are looking in the web app, you need to be in the native app to change the dashboard between modern & classic
You are so right, how stupid of me.
Bob Scheffler, easy done, I didn't twig till I actually went & looked there
Hi Bob. I’ve seen you have been busy. Hopefully that new drone is working great. I’m surprised your still getting the “Image Transmission Signal Weak” I was under the impression that issue with Android devices was fixed by the DL team themselves with an update awhile using Beta 4.0.0.

Mike and Martin, I was out of commission for a while as DJI again took my drone and gave me a new Mini so I was not flying. I do not think I ever saw the Dashboard option before but I tried it a couple days ago and I flew one mission with the classic view and I sort of liked it because numbers like power percentages were bigger. I have tried to use it again but I can't. Martin, you asked if my view looked like what you posted, it does not. If I open the app on my phone without hooking up drone I get this opening page: I can then go to this page:And then this one:If I connect the drone I get completely different look, I get this opening page: And then this following page if I click on "Mavic Mini" As you can see they are quite different than what you get. But even if I click on "Dashboard" and then connect drone, I cannot fly a mission, I get a white box that says "Take Off" and the aircraft lifts but cannot fly a mission. I can fly it manually though. I am baffled because I know I flew a mission with a different dashboard but I cannot duplicate.
Mike I have been flying quite a bit, but every time I lose the drone for a period of time I get rusty and do not feel comfortable and it takes a while to get the confidence back. If you re-call, one of the reasons I returned the drone was I kept getting an error msg. saying "RC not connected to mobile unit". If you re-call I replaced the cable and the RC and tried it with another Samsung S21 and I got the same msg. It looked like this: Well guess what? It's back again, this was a screen shot from a couple days ago. I had to shut everything down and re-start and it went away. My wife says I am flying too much and beating the hell out of it. But this was not the reason I returned the other one, it was the gimbal again, (3 other drone problems) the gimbal just started going crazy like it was doing a calibration all the time, it would not stop. I sent a video to DJI and that is when they told me to return it.
I do not think I mis-handle the drone, I have had some accidents with the other drones but it was mostly just a beat up prop or a little needed epoxy on a frame crack. I haven't flown it into water or dropped it from 100 feet, or anything drastic. This new one I have not so much as even flown into a fly, I don't think. But yet I still got the msg. that I could not connect. Maybe I just fly so much that I am increasing the odds of something happening. I am only 30 minutes from taking 2nd place on the Leader Board, would have done it today but it rained all day here.
A lot of stuff to digest. Hard to believe another problem. What a pain.
As far as the font sizes. Not sure on Android but when using my iPad I can increase or decrease the font size by changing my iPad font size which I can do quickly. Very large to very small or anywhere in between. Doesn’t matter if classic or Modern mode. Maybe take a look at the font size on your device and se if you can adjust for the app. Mine can be set just for the DL app or entire device. Works great on some things which get cut off or way too big.
Hi Bob Scheffler, just to confirm you are seeing the same as me, the earlier screenshot i posted was to show the setting for choosing between classic & modern, below are a few screenshots equivalent to yours, they might look slightly different as in landscape on a galaxy fold Z2.
This one with no drone connected on just opening Dronelink
Same page but drone connected
Modern dashboard settings panel
fully operational Dashboard
With your connection problem between the RC and mobile, have you tried with a different lead
When you say "lead" I assume you are talking about the cable connecting the RC and phone. I have replaced the cable, RC, and drone. It has only happened once so far.
Yep that's what i was talking about, have you access to another phone you can try
Trying to catch up here but this thread has quite a bit of info. What is the actual error message you are seeing now?
Jim there was actually 3 issues but only two had an error message, but only one from Dronelink. Let me preface this with, I was out of commission for a while because I had to again return my Mini to DJI because of a gimbal problem. When I got back to flying I flew a mission and ran out of battery but I received a message (error or not I am not sure): "Automatic Control Interrupted - The drone must remain in P-GPS flight mode for automatic control". The screenshot is at the beginning of this post. In the past I had (I thought) received a message about low battery, I did not understand why msg. was saying something about the GPS.
The next issue had no error msg., it was more of an inability to activate a part of the program. When I had turned on the Dronelink program, after my hiatus, I saw something that I do not remember seeing before. In the upper right corner there were the words "Dashboard". I had the choice to pick classic or modern, I think I chose classic and flew a mission with a completely different screen. My problem is that I can not duplicate this change in the dashboard, at least not when flying a mission. If I turn on the app. while not connected it says "Dashboard" in the upper right hand corner, over the map of United States. If I click on "Dashboard" it changes to the different look but of course there is nothing in the way of numbers because it is not connected. If I connect the drone, the area that said "Dashboard" now says "Mini" and I can change the dashboard look but I can only fly Manually, I cannot fly a mission, but I did fly a mission before with the different dashboard.
I also brought up another issue but it has nothing to do with Dronelink. I was talking with Martin Reading how my previous drone setup would often give me an error msg. saying that the RC cannot connect with the mobile device. I had bought new cables, new RC, used another S21 phone and continued to get the same msg. It was a sporadic issue and DJI had no answer to give me but then my gimbal stopped working so I had returned the drone. As I was telling Martin I had again received the same msg., once, and that was with everything new. Also to answer Martin, no I do not have another phone to test with because I used my son's S21 to test and it shortly after that died and he does not want to use his new folding Samsung to test with.
So Jim, my only question for you is: Why can't I fly a mission while changing the dashboard? Actually 2 questions, Is this something new with Dronelink because I just received an e-mail from Dronelink telling me to explore the latest Mobile App and Flight Dasboard.
The screenshot shows that the flight mode changed to GoHome, so the mission was automatically disengaged and it told you that you cannot continue to execute a mission unless the flight mode remains in P-GPS - this is just the name that DJI gives to the "all normal" flight mode.
If you want to open a mission (in either dashboard), just tap the mission from the home screen, or tap the lightning bolt icon (if you are already in the modern dashboard), and select the mission from the home tab.
Just got something new, when I clicked on "Mini" top right, the screen went black and then this came up:
As far as the dashboard thing, I created another mission and I could go back and forth from classic and modern but the other mission would not.
What device / Android version are you using?
What do you mean by this?
I have the Samsung S21, version 12. I had created 2 missions. Both missions were orbits in different areas with different actions. I had just created the first mission when I discovered the dashboard. I changed the dashboard without an issue but the next time I flew the dashboard was back to the original. When I initially turn on the app it says dashboard in the top right and quickly changes to the word "MINI". When I clicked on that the screen went black and that's when I got the bug notice. This mission does not have the ability to change the dashboard. I created a second orbit mission and I can go back and forth with the dashboard. I was going to delete the first mission and try again and see if it makes a difference.
When you tap the dashboard button, which changes to the model of the drone if a drone is connected, it opens the dashboard that you have configured in the app settings (hamburger menu in the top left, scroll down). If you open a mission it also just uses this setting.
As for the screen going black, does it happen with any regularity or are there specific steps to reproduce it or is it just random?
It only happened once but I have not tried it again. I will try it as soon as I can.
I tried to re-create the bug message but I could not, the program froze a couple times and had to be re-started and I still can't change the dashboard in the orbit mission. I created 2 screen recordings and put them in my dropbox.
Just to be clear, you can't switch dashboards from inside the dashboard. You have to do that from the home screen > main menu.
Yes I know, but that one program that was a corkscrew orbit I could not change the dashboard and I could with another mission. I created a new corkscrew mission and changing the dashboard works. It happened, I believe, when the program went black, then shut down and my phone desktop came back with the error message saying there was a bug. Seems to be working fine now.
