Is there a way to test the device (phone) performance before actual flight?
I used to be happy with Dronelink, but I had a bad experience recently.
After the mission started, the message Device Too Slow suddenly appeared, and then the mission was interrupted.
With the same device, other previous flights were smooth and successful.
To be honest, the recent "Device Too Slow" mission is not more complicated than the previous ones, too.
So, this situation is a kind of uncertainty for me and I really don't like this kind of uncertainty!
(1) So, is there a way to test the device's performance before flight execution?
(2) How much performance does it require to fly? Is there a benchmark number for us to determine which Android phone is good/fast enough as a baseline?
I've also read the articles and my device is an Android. In the articles, there is no clear hardware requirement information about the Android devices.

Some hate IOS devices for whatever reason. I don’t put down anyones drone or device choice ever. However, using an IOS device even with the DJI app, let alone DL which needs more power to process and run smoothly works much better. DJI recommends IOS devices right on there box. Whenever I see and issue with a device struggling it’s almost always an Android OS device.
Only suggestion I have is to make sure everything is completely closed down. Shut down the device and restart it fresh just before using DL. Any plan that is long with a lot of commands, functions, makers etc. may make it harder to process and run especially on a device that may be struggling.
With the money I’ve spent on just my two DJI drones, well over $2,000, $400 was just another investment with the confidence I won’t have issues. I have 5 total drones which I can use it with. I use my iPad Mini 5 for creating all my DL plans in the web app, editing all my videos, and of course to fly with both DL and DJI without issues for 1-1/2 years. I believe it will give you a much better flying experience overall rather than having issues on and off and being frustrated. Good luck Ray……..
What device are you using?
@Mike (Arizona Wyldwest) Thank you.
One more thing to consider, and that is about DJI's activation policy.
From what I've learned, it greatly limits the conversion of the DJI Fly App between different Smartphones.

Can we run Dronelink on a smartphone without DJI Fly App installed?
I have two smartphones -- a modern one and an old one.
Since my personal needs, I will keep using the old smartphone but not going to retire it.
Since there is the limitation to switch over the DJI Fly App between different smartphones if it is not required to run DL with the DJI Fly App installed on the same smartphone, it will be very good News.
Due to safety considerations, I hope to confirm the DL's requirement before doing the test.
I've installed the DL on the modern smartphone which does not have DJI Fly App installed.
But I am not sure if it is ok to execute the mission, is it ok?
Yes
Unless of course you need to do a geo unlock.
Hi Ray. I’m not sure I understand your above comment.
“One more thing to consider, and that is about DJI's activation policy.

What is it about the activation policy ? Unless I’m misunderstanding your concern, I don’t see the difference of switching between an Android or IOS device. People use both all the time and I’ve never heard of any issues. I don’t have any Android OS devices but logging in to DJI with same account regardless of device type should not matter. As always, I may be wrong. 😳

In my current knowledge, what I understand is that before operating the DJI Drone, users must do the activation procedure with an Email.
The email address is bound to the DJI Fly App.
And, if users need to switch over phones, users need to remove the drone from the DJI Fly App and add the drone to the new smartphone's DJI Fly App.
I already have a new smartphone and since the operation of the drone is a relatively simple task, I prefer to dedicate the old smartphone to operate the drone but not the new smartphone.
And, if I want to switch back the old phone, I will be required to do the remove/add procedure again.
So the binding of the DJI Fly App is a restriction for me to switch over the old smartphone and new smartphone easily.
Especially, I thought it is required to run the Dronelink with the DJI Fly App installed in the same smartphone but it is not true.
Now, my issue is resolved. I am able to use the old smartphone to operate the DJI drones and for complicated missions, I will use the new smartphone without the remove/add procedure.
Ok Ray. I Understand. I can see how going back and forth would be a pain. However, I use my iPad Mini and on occasion my iPhone 8 and works without issue. I don’t see why it would need to be removed from device before logging into DJI on a different device. As long as the device is capable of working with the DJI app you can switch between any device you have. Curious to hear if overall experience is better. Good luck and enjoy.

Thank you for the information and I will test it out.
