Dronelink on RC Pro

Neal McConnell

I have the Air 2s with RC Pro combo. I installed Dronelink(3.2.0-2183) on the controller via the Smart Controller link. It complained about Google Services, but seems to work well, gets my plans, and is snappy UI-wise. The only issue is that it doesn't detect the connected drone.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

I’d delete the app and re-install and make sure to slowly go through all the permissions and make sure you approved them all.

Also I believe the regular production app should be available in the Google Store since it was updated to the same version as Beta. I Believe you can use the Beta if you want but it should now be the same as production version as Jim has stated. I don’t use Android but I’ve seen many others which need to download a specific way using the proper APK for their specific device. 32 or 64 bit.

This link says Beta but it’s the same procedure as the production app.

Hope this helps. Good luck, Mike…..

Sorry about that. I Found this thread and thought it was. Maybe it was a different controller he asked about. Although I believe there is only one Pro controller.

It's the same one, we still haven't bought or tested it because the DJI SDK doesn't support it yet. We can only hope it is better than the last version.

    Thanks, all.

For thoroughness, I uninstalled and tried again. No go.

RC Pro is AKA "Smart Controller V2". What I got is the only case where the new controller works with Air 2s out-of-the-box, for now. It doesn't have Google Play.

Now, at least, you know the latest APK works on the RC Pro, and there don't appear to be performance barriers. I do like that Dronelink uses login vs. app store. It makes installing builds much easier.

I just got my first drone (AIr2S with RC pro) and was upset to learn i couldnt get much else to work right on it.

Need google services, connected/disconnected repeated messages.

I did however just complete a mission with dronelink on my rc pro and it ran perfectly. Here is how i did it and not even sure how or why but i gave it a try and it worked.

Installed dronelink on my ios iphone, then connected my phone via bluetooth to the rc pro. all the sudden no more google services messages and constant connection. First flight ran to perfection.

    Hope this helps....

You were able to run a DL mission  on the iPhone or the RC Pro?

    On the RC Pro….

I can make a video later this evening if needed but yes , after installing on iPhone ( already on rc) and connecting to rc via Bluetooth to my phone the app on my rc maintained connection and quit giving me the google services error.

I can only assume it used some dependencies from the iPhone.

I’m still very new to all this ( had drone now for 2 days)

Created a test mission , forgot to tell it to return to home when finished and was also able to fly it right back to me from 1.6 miles away.

If someone else can try it and confirm then maybe Dronelink can update support.

I will try to replicate tomorrow, as well, as I have the ingredients.

I was unable to get it to work, with Bluetooth connection added. I see the Google services message every time I quit and relaunch.

iPhone 12 Pro (15.4.1), RC Pro (latest), Dronelink 3.2.0(2183)

It's weird that they can "connect" with Bluetooth, either way. I wonder what type of services one advertises to the other.

Interesting. Ok so the only other thing I did previous to my flight was install Dji go 4 app , realized air 2s wasn’t supported and deleted. I’ll try to provide video evidence tonight. I’m using iPhone 12 mini

Thanks for the video! I got it to work as well, but I still get the Google services message with every launch.

Because software config made more sense to me, I also installed and then uninstalled Go4. I still don't know if that was necessary, with possible lingering bits. I didn't go past sign in option before uninstall.

I also found that I could install from the latest APK(3.3.1-192), rather than using the older version via Smart Controller Drive link.

I don't need Bluetooth for things to work.

If DJI Fly app is running, I see a cyclic connection within Dronelink. To stop the interference, I go to Settings -> Apps and notifications -> DJI Fly --> FORCE STOP

Because Fly is set to auto-launch on boot, this may have made things harder to decipher.

    So,

    1. Power on drone
    2. Power on RC
    3. Let DJI Fly auto connect to drone
    4. Force Stop Fly
    5. Launch Dronelink(or other 3rd party app)

Makes sense as after I connected to Bluetooth I killed all apps and launched Dronelink. So does it really even have a real requirement for Google services ? Seems it doesn’t as it works just fine. Maybe apk could just be updated to remove that ‘requirement ‘ ?

btw nice job! We just solved a problem that thus far the internet hadn’t figured out.

    Hi all,

So what I'm reading is that Drone Link does work, installed on the RC Pro, to use with an Air 2S?

I've just been going through the motions of looking at all options available on the drone market for softwares and if what you're saying is true, then this seems to be the only option available?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger and buy a combo pack for mapping missions (an eventual travel), but I just wanted to confirm it all.

Also, that video on YT has now gone. :/

I'm assuming this could be all good though? :)

Basically, I'd like to see about starting a business doing this stuff, and run some trials and when I'm happy with it all, then start the actual charging of clients and upgrade all the softwares as required. But, have any of you used WebODM for photo stitching and the like?

    Thanks,

    Steve

That's really exciting to hear. Well done to you and the team! Given that the Mavic3 SDK is planned for an August release, is that on your roadmap too?

We always add support for DJI’s new drones when they release the SDK - and we are usually the first app to do so when it happens.
