I do not know if this is a Dronelink issue or a DJI issue.  Two days ago it started, I was flying a Drone link mission with the mini and a Samsung S21.  I launched using the hand mode and never turned on DJI Fly.  I opened Dronelink and started a mission.  The first thing the drone was supposed to do was go to 140 feet.  I started the mission and at 1:15, 98 feet I received the message, "Mission stopped at 98 feet, Mas altitude reached.  Tried twice, same thing.  Shut everything down and went into advanced settings and as I was looking at the toggle switch for payload mode it went from off to on. Because I shut everything down I believe my screen recording shut down so I recreated the scenario without shutting down everything and the rest of the issue is shown in the second recording.  At 1:02 after clearing the fly zone protocol, I received the message, "Payload mode enabled", then that message was replaced with, "Propeller guards detected."  I went to advanced settings again and saw the toggle switch for cargo mode go from off to on.

It should be noted that this only happens when starting the Dronelink program first.  If I just start with DJI Fly I do not have this problem.  That is why I am starting with this forum.  If you need to see the screen recordings let me know how you want to get them.  Thanks in advance.

    What drone are you using?

What is your max altitude setting set to in DJI Fly?

Mavic mini RTH set to 140 feet.  Dronelink Version2.5.1 (165) Kernel 2.5.0. As said I took a screen recording also and it is uploaded to UTube

Hi Bob. I had a similar situation awhile ago when trying to flying a mission. Only thing Jim could advise was the checking DJI fly app for max altitude which was correct. What I finally did was delete both DJI and Dronelink app. I Reinstalled both as new. Then refreshed the firmware on my MA2 on both controller and drone. I Calibrated the IMU and Compass then tried again with no issues. It was the first time it had happened and It’s worked fine ever since. Not sure why but that’s the electronics era for you.

Maybe this will solve the issue. Good luck.

I hate to say it, but I am glad that someone else is having same issue. I was starting to think I was doing something wrong. That may be the answer to another issue that I posted here. My drone made self imposed emergency landing almost on some people's heads. I was at 90% battery in a safe zone, and it went into the rapid beep, emergency landing and I struggled to get it back. My only issue with deleting dronelink and reinstalling is that I am using the Beta version. I did it once before and it was a little difficult getting back the Beta. I had to get Jim to help.

Looks like your max height is set right,777 ft.

I saw the entering restricted flight area warning. Are you near the Norwood Airport?

It looks like there are height restrictions all over the area.

If I try and fly in certain areas around my town I get the same warnings .I live in Tallahassee Fl. Outside of the 5 mile airport restricted area but there are height restrictions all around the area.

I get the same warnings and have to go into the airmap   app to request authorization and set the max fly height etc.

I agree about the authorization zone possibly not permitting it. Try another area and see what happens. That may be the answer to your issue.

As far as switching between Regular Production and Beta app versions, it’s been no issues for me. However, I use IOS devices so maybe it’s something with your Samsung device. Frustrating, I’m sure. Hope you get it worked out Bob.

    Good luck. Mike…….

I have been flying in this area almost every day for almost two years and this has never happened. I am technically outside of the restricted flight area but I still have to do all the check offs. Does not stop me from flying, the message just stays on the screen. Today I flew several times and many times it was not a problem, but some it was. I thought I might as well calibrate the IMU even though it said it was ok. When I started to calibrate I got a msg saying IMU needs to be calibrated or there may be flight restrictions. I calibrated but did not have time to fly

I did some extensive testing yesterday, I recorded, with a voice recorder, everything I did.  I went through 3 batteries trying different scenarios, I won't bore anyone with everything I did, but I tested with Dronelink only, DJI only, DJI then Dronelink and Dronelink then DJY.  I tested free flying, I played with executing missions at different heights and distances.  Sometimes I could complete the mission, I would guess one out 3 were completed.  After playing back my voice recording I realized that the only time the Maximum height restriction occurred was when I flew the Dronelink program and it did not happen all the time.

I decided to calibrate the IMU even though the RC said it was OK.  I recalibrated the IMU the A/C restarted on it's own and then I received msg. "IMU altitude error take off with caution - No GPS signal.".  I leveled up a piece of plywood and recalibration was successful but it become too late to fly.

I went out today and flew with Dronelink and the first flight was good, the next two were not.  It appears to be an issue with Dronelink.

Did you refresh the controller as well. Even when it says the IMU is ok I still calibrated it. Usually on DJI assistant 2 for Mavic I downgrade the firmware or refresh if it lets me. Then I install the upgrade again on both. Hopefully it gets fixed for you.

Frustrating when all was well. Good luck Bob.

Looks like I spoke too soon about it being limited to Dronelink. I flew today only using DJI Fly and 1 out of 3 flights were limited to 98 feet. I thought that since it says that it senses propeller guards on and I just replaced the blades that maybe that's the problem. Nope replaced them, didn't work. I will try your suggestion but I am starting to think that the IMU unit is bad.

Solved the problem, I replaced the blades with genuine DJI blades and I believe the problem is solved.  I only flew it up 3 times because very windy here now, but it worked all 3 times.  The problem started because I was having problems flying in low wind situations, I was actually losing headway and getting messages in the flight logs of possible crash situations. I decided to change the blades. About 3 months ago I was searching for blades on the internet.  Walmart had 2 sets for $12 and they were advertised as DJI Mini props.  I tried both sets and kept getting error msgs. about flying with the prop guard on so it automatically went into Cargo Mode. I went out this morning to Best Buy and bought real DJI props.  I could see an obvious difference between the Walmart blades and the DJI blades.  The Walmart blades, though never used, had completely different shape.  I could not notice the difference until putting them right next to each other.  I hope others see this post it might save them from sending their drone back for repair.  I guess the old moto is true, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR!!!

Wow. Usually true Bob. Hopefully that fixed it permanently.

I have flown about 10 missions and the only issue was I received a message at the end of a mission that said "Drone smart return home failed, try restarting drone"

I rarely use my MM. Almost of all my flights are with my MA2 and I’ve never used that function but maybe a Jim can answer why it fails. Not sure if the MM or the MA2 is able to utilize that function or not. Many functions aren’t available on all drones even though it has them in the functions list. I either set the “Action on Finish” to either None or RTH which works. Not sure what the “Smart RTH” is.

Glad to hear it’s working. Sometimes it’s the simple things in life.
    Enjoy Bob. Mike……

I usually set up all missions with a RTH command but I have only received the "smart return to home failed". I believe I remember something in the MM manual calling it that. I will have to look it up.
