DEM (Digital Elevation Map) importing feature
Hello
Is there a way to upload a DEM and be able to plan an AGL mapping fligth over it instead of the ESRI elevation info that DRONLINK uses?
This feature will be handy in mining sites where the ground is constantly changing.
Im a mapper plan user and i would love to see this feature available.
Greetings

This feature is on the roadmap, but it will probably only be in the Starter and Growth plans.
Nice, alredy voted for it!
Hope to see it soon.
Thanks! and keep the hard work, you've got a really nice platform.
How many votes does it take to get this approved? Having to rely the ESRI 30m DEM in steep topography while using terrain following has proven to be a nightmare, for me at least.
It is definitely something we want to get to, but we have been busy on other things.
I'm sure the availability of importing more high resolution DEMs/DTMs is an important goal for dronelink. Few applications import H-R DEMs and it would surely make the application very widespread and in demand in the field of photogrammetry
Hi,
This feature would be so important to be able to plan profesionnal fligths.
Is any date for that?
This feature is not currently prioritized and even if it was, we don’t do release date estimates: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033214054-What-is-on-the-Dronelink-product-roadmap-
Thanks Jim.
If anyone interested in this feature has software dev experience and wants to help make this happen, much of DL is open source and we are happy to work with external contributors: dev@dronelink.com
Any updates on this one? Agreed with previous comments, this would be extremely powerful.
I’m sure it would be announced here as the above link about the product roadmap states.
We will post an update here when there is something to say.
First of all, I'd like to place my vote for that feature! :)
I understand that implementing this feature may be complex. Would it perhaps be more feasible to enable the definition of Boundary Points in 3D? This could allow users to introduce elements similar to breaklines, and potentially a new type of element (such as break points) enabling more flexibility within the boundary itself. Then users could build a kind of a triangelnet.
While this approach might be significantly easier to implement from DL's side and shift more of the workload to the user, it could also deliver a long-awaited feature that would bring substantial value to the user community.
What format are you looking to use?
We are currently looking into this feature. Does anyone here have a file they would like us to test it?
Hi Jim! What kind of data are you looking for, and do you have any specific requirements, particularly regarding the DEM/DTM resolution?
We are just looking into it, so whatever file format you like and whatever resolution it has is fine.
I'll have a look what can I share. Should I send a link to the shared data by email?

Just an idea. Have you considered letting an AI write the code and produce the DEM/DTM test files? I hear Anthropic and Grok are getting very good at converting a technical spec to source code. AI could create the most prevalent DEM sample files as well as produce test cases for QA. Here is what I asked and the answer I got back on the feasibility of this approach. https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtMi1jb3B5_7216dddf-a2a0-44e9-857e-87bd183c7cad
AI is all well and good but the hope here is that if we create this feature, it actually solves for the specific file formats and examples that people want (otherwise you just get slop).
I believe there was some valuable information in the link I provided about which were the prevalent DEM/DTM formats in 90% of use globally. I could be wrong but these sample files are publically available too.
I appreciate the effort Daniel and to be clear I was not trying to be dismissive. Like everyone else at this point, we have used AI in our dev process for some time and will continue to take advantage of it. The point I am trying to make is we still want to prioritize listening to actual users (quality over quantity).
No offense taken Jim. Here is something I found helpful about creating standard DEM/DTM/DSM files from Drone Deploy of DJI Pilot 2 / FH2. This will create the standard GeoTiff files like most users would do. Again, I would hope this might help. Perhaps the requestors in these threads could weigh in. https://grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtMi1jb3B5_c14b80a9-628f-498c-aa3c-658ff4e92b5a
another upvote here. Thanks for making it happen. I have DEMs to share that work in Pilot 2 for us.
