Error message "Image Transmission Signal Weak"
Hi,
Tried today this DroneLink app for the first time. Had already done couple of plans, but I got the following error message running all the time on the app, therefore I didn't fly the drone because I don't know how serious this error msg is.
"Image Transmission Signal Weak"
The drone sat about 1m away from the mobile, so that doesn't explain this message. Because I am new to this app, there is a possibility that I just do something wrong. Any suggestions what to try to fix this, thanks!
p.s. I tried next the DJI FLY and all worked fine, no error messages.
Mobile: Galaxy S10e
Drone: DJI MINI

That part of the UI is from the DJI UX SDK, so we will report the issue to them.
Jim, does your answer means "Don't worry, you can fly" ?
If it doesn't show the issue in DJI Fly, you are good.
Hi, I'm a new user to Dronelink (have used Litchi for 1.5 years) recently purchased a Dronelink account. Attampted to fly my first Mavic Mini Waypoint mission, ver simple just a spiral out to about 40 m. I see the weak signal message also as soon as the Phone S10+ connected to the Controller. During the approach phase at about 10m away I lost connection and the mini halted and hovered. 15 anxious seconds later I had a connection and I manually returned and landed, I reset the drone and controller and exited dronelink app and attempted the same mission with similar results. Again I managed to recoved the drone and land. I then flew with Litchi (although no missions) I do not see the week transmission message and teh drone did not lose connection even though I flew in the same location.
This is a bit concerning, I am not sure if the Weak Transmission signal is related to the loss of connection. any Advice would be appreciated.
PS. I turn OFF WIFI and Bluetooth on the phone when I fly the Mini to avoid interference. Also Dronelink has all permission ON and I don't have Litchi running in background
Thanx Steve
We believe there is a bug in the DJI UX SDK, which I don't believe Litchi is using.
Thanks Jim,
I will avoid missions with Dronelink for the Mini until I see an update. btw. Loving the mission capability with the MaviC Pro, many more features than Litchi waypoints.
Does Dronelink upload missions to the Pro so it can fly even without the controller? or are the missions run from the controler, thus requiring a connection at all times during a mission?

I have this same issue and after initial takeoff, it aborts the mission and the drone just sits there. No errors in the mission. Mavic Mini!
Disappointing that it doesn't work.
Matt
Got it to start the mission.. but it says my Galaxy S7 isn't fast enough. Not sure what to do as I don't want to use my S9 or buy another phone. Still had the video transmission error on the screen.

I have only flown about 4 simple missions and all of them I get the same yellow msg., "Transmission Signal Weak". I had no problem with any of the missions, but like I said I only flew 4 very basis missions. I don't know if this is related or not but one of the missions when it starts, for about 20 seconds the front of the drone jerks up and down like it's shaking it's head. I have flown this mission 3 times and it does it everytime.
Just purchased the App, just joined the group, just ran into the weak signal problem as everyone else ... did this issue ever get fixed? Are they still working on it?
Had the same question - is this fixed please?
It is not fixed yet. You can subscribe to receive updates to our release notes.
I recently purchased this app as it falsely says it supports the Mavic Mini ,however as soon you connect it gives the mesaage 'Image Transmission Signal Weak ' even when its just 1 metre away.So I am afraid to fly it as it has not given the clearance.I see that the issue is pending from the time Dronelink announced support for Mavic mini .Atleast they should not announce compatibillity with the mini until unless you can use the software with this device. Its been such a waste of money , should have gone for the Litchi.
Did you read this whole thread? The error message is from the DJI SDK and it is false, but that does not mean Dronelink doesn't work. As long as DJI Fly is not reporting any errors then you can feel confident.
Does DJI intend to fix this at all? I can confirm it is a ux sdk issue with preflightstatus widget. I've been using it too on my project and half the time its useless on mini. Dronelink works just fine and its great with the web app.
I doubt it. They just let go the whole UX SDK team.
Well that's a shame as it was great for RAD approach. :)
New to mini and Dronelink. Hate to revive an old topic... But had a different problem.
The Dronelink flight plan worked perfectly. Wide open practice field. Approximate 6mins or more, flight with max altitude of 300 ft.
Only error at beginning was magnetic field interference. From reading some forum posts, this is some issue
on DJI SDK part. Nonetheless drone seemed ok, so I decided to let DL do the flight plan.
When I landed I decided to practice some manual flying with DJI Fly App.
Flew to the last building on the DL flight plan, which was roughly 1,486 feet away from me.
At that point, DJI Fly showed bad transmission. Had LOS and height was about 150 feet.
Figured I would post this to follow and see if anybody has had the dL work good and DJI Fly have a
strange issue. Had antennas configured in correct position. The Mini controller antennas radiate longitudinally out from shaft, not from tips. I watched a Youtube video and the guy flew his Mini about 18,000 feet away, so 1,486 should have not caused transmission loss.
LOL. Getting 1500 ft is a good day with that drone.
Jim is right about the distance the mini can fly, I have flown the mini for 2 years and I am 6th on the leaderboard for hours of flight and I think the furthest I ever got the drone to go was 1,800 feet. I average around 900 to 1,000 feet most days. Right now I have been testing the RTH in case of loss of signal, so that is why I am familiar with the distance the drone can fly. I am almost 100% sure the failsafe RTH is not working in my drone. The DJI manual says, "Failsafe RTH automatically activates after the remote controller signal is lost for more than 11 seconds". My flight records show loosing the signal for 24 seconds or more and RTH was not activated, I had to drive to the drone, which was just hovering, in order to get a signal.
I have seen those videos of guys flying outrages distances, I am not sure if they are a hoax. First of all your battery would not lost nearly long enough to make a flight like that and those dinky little antennas could never get that type of distance. I have seen videos where guys had these massive antennas connected to the RC, they were so big they had a stand on wheels for them. They somehow jury rigged the drone to have more battery power but I did not understand how they did it.
Suffice it to say Jim is right when he says you are lucky to get 1,500 feet with the mini. Signal pollution I believe is the main reason for the lack of distance. When I fly in rural, wide open areas, I have been able to get more distance, but not where I live.
A reminder though, and I am not preaching because I have done it. We are not supposed to fly beyond un-doctored site. When I fly 1,500 feet I have someone I am in contact with who can pick up the drone where I loose it. Like I said I have lost site of my drone many times which makes me nervous. That is why I like the Dronelink program it allows me to see where my drone is and find it again with my eyes.
I have printed the reflectors and Yagi 2.4 ghz antenna boosters for my mini. Still trying to find something reflective for the reflector portion of the booster. And , what a pain in the butt to do the rods for the Yagi. The acceptable deviation of length is 0.15 mm. That is a small number to work with. Should finish eventually and post results. Simple test I did with the reflector so far, without any reflector surface, shows a signal drop. I'm unable to account for what is causing it. It's thin,1mm, in two spots per antenna. PLA print material. Should not have any influence on the signal. Only did the test inside the house, so the interference could be interacting with 2.4 ghz wifi signal from our wireless router. Gonna get out to my practice field and check again.
I Know this original thread was about “Image Transmission Signal Weak.” That’s been discussed exhaustively and is almost always about the Mini’s when using an Android devices. I’ll let Jim’s posts speak for themselves.
The other remark about YouTube video flying 18,000 feet I think it was meant to say 1,800 feet which is understandable. If they were actually claiming 18,000 feet then they had to have done an insurmountable amount of modifications of some kind with an expensive booster and a heavily modified battery pack like I’ve seen on some. Even then I really doubt it was true.
The Mavic Mini is only advertised to 2.5 miles which is 13,200 feet. That will never happen in the real world. So 18,000 feet would be about 3.4 miles and impossible not to mention the battery would run out of power before getting there.
Also you can purchase Parabolic Reflectors and use those with the Yagis for the MM which are inexpensive. As always, most manufactures of anything give specifications which aren’t accurate. They indicate a 50% increase with the Yagi’s alone, and 40% with just the Reflector. No way. Actual signal boost with either of them or with both used together may be about 25% in the real world. So at 1,500 feet with two signal bars would maybe increase to 1,900 feet with same results. Not much increase but they can help especially if you have low signal bars which may cause the transmission signal to be distorted/ degraded. Even if you have 2 to 3 signal bars it may still have interference within the signal. Meaning, the signal has static/ white noise etc., within the transmission signal. I’ve been a advanced class HAM radio operator for almost 30 years and signal strength does not always mean a completely clear with no interference signal. Good luck everyone.
Mike…….
I also have the Mini 2 and with version 3.4.1 (2208) Kernel 3.4.1 and the Samsung A53 5G with Android 12. Currently in the application's dashboard you don't see what the camera captures, neither before recording, nor photographing, nor recording. It displays the following error message: IMAGE TRANSMISSION SIGNAL WEAK. However, it executes the missions without problem, even the histogram indicates that it receives a signal. I changed the resolutions from 4K, 2.7K and 1080, without results; I changed the DJI cable for the original Samsung cable, with the same results. what do you think it could be?
The Image Transmission Signal Weak is answered above. Since you are using a Android device you need to make sure you followed all the installation instructions. Biggest issue is not granting all permissions. Check these links. Maybe they will help.
