MINI 3 Pro Map issues

Jeremy
Hi, I finally downloaded and installed version 4.9.0 (282) on my android device (Motorola Moto G stylus) + N1 controller. I executed a few complex waypoint missions with no issues whatsoever. I then attempted 4 small mapping projects over the course of two days and at two separate locations. At the beginning of each mission the drone flew a bit off course and acted rather erratically before I took over manually. Each time I set the max speed to 4 mph and it disregarded the speed, maxing out around 25mph, flying straight forward past its planned turn point. I would try to resume the mission and it would happen again. One time the drone did one or two 360 degree turns rather erratically after a restart attempt. Not sure if others have had this issue or not, but I wanted to also check and see if there is a setting or specific configuration I need to look at? I upgraded from build 278 which executed mapping missions beautifully with no issues. Thanks for your hard work on this amazing app! Jeremy

Did you test the On-the-fly version of the same component ?

Martin, yes sure! Below are links to two projects. One thing I forgot to mention is that it honored the speed I entered from the liftoff point to the start of the mission and then blasted off to 25 mph once the mission started.

Stephane, no have not yet tested the on the fly version.

    Thanks!

Jeremy you've got the max speed still set to 20MPH in the map settings, the screenshot above was taken from the settings for the map component of the first link

Second link should be fine that's set to 7MPH

Hi Jeremy. Even if the speed is set to 20 mph on the map component it doesn’t mean it will run at that speed. It may or may not depending on the model drone and length of the path. If you use any flight logging software like Airdata you can check that specific flight and see what the actual speed was during fight. You can check the DJI logs but so much essier to use Airdata. I doubt it ran at 25 mph because it would have been limited to the very max of 20 mph which is what you originally had it set to in the settings. Also always check the mission preview when setting up any plan to see what the estimated speeds will be during the flight and can changed to the correct speed for the actual flown mission. The max speed setting for the Motion limits means that controls the speed from the take-off to the destination or on any other motion to other components. These are identified with the dashed line. The component speed will be the max speed it can run during the flight and can be different than the motion limits. The default speed for Motion limits and components are always 10 mph. Hope that helps for future plans. Enjoy.

Thank you Mike and Martin! I had a chance to try it again today with the modified max speed and that did slow it down, thank you for catching that! That being said, the overall mission was better but not perfect. About half way through the mission I received a “camera start capture failed” message. After that I restarted the mission by pressing the play button. The drone started again and slowly strayed off course and then started rotating in circles. Once that happened I intervened and activated RTH manually as it started to enter an unsafe situation. I was recording the screen if you would like to see for yourself, you can view the it at https://youtu.be/st3uwvm8vSs?si=8Wgya93Axdbjn0dL

Mike, Regarding my comment about yesterday’s flight reaching 25mph, I do have an Airdata record and I verified today it reported 25.95 mph as the max speed, you can see a screenshot of that at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e43WKF4AmFRs227ma1z47GaIbe4hND6Y/view?usp=drivesdk

Thanks and let me know if I can provide anything else to help!

Ok. Should never go above the max speed setting as that is like a speed limit so not sure why it would. Never seen anything like your issues before so I have a suggestion. Do a complete firmware refresh on both drone and controller. Then you should always calibrate the IMU and Compass. Can’t hurt and at least it will eliminate that as a possibility. Doesn’t take long. Really strange that is says near max altitude. What was the max altitude set to in the app ?

Ok I will give that a try, I was thinking an IMU and Compass calibration might have something to do with it…it’s been a while.

Thanks I will let you know if I find anything.

    Hello,

I have the same problem here with a DJI mini 3 (not pro version).

The mission either starts and the drone goes crazy with the camera rotating randomly, or the drone just stops hovering in place. I have found no solution yet...

If you found a solution I would be very grateful you share it here !
