DJI Mini 3 Pro - odd & dangerous behaviour with flight plan
Hello community,
after the recent update, our DJI Mini 3 Pro doesn't execute the planned flights anymore and furthermore acts very odd and does very random and dangerous maneuvers.
After starting everything up and the controller in "N"-Mode, dronelink always displays "P-GPS" as it's mode.
When we start a mission, the drone goes up and the start going crazy. Following things have happend:
- random yaw and spinning aroud
- the gimbal goas up and down
- drone goes down without command and could possibly have crashed into the ground.
We are using normal maps to fly over railway construction sites. Signal interference IS NOT the problem. When in manual flight, everything works fine and the drone can keep it's location perfectly. We also tried the same map and location with another drone and it went perfectly fine. A reset of the drone and deinstalling dronelink and dji fly doesn't help either. We have tried every basic solution to get it to work again but nothing helped.
So the only guess is that something is wrong with dronelink or the version of the app. I will add all the information about our mission down below but I hardly believe that they have to do anything with that, as these settings have worked for us plenty of times.

Any help and support is welcome as we need this to work again asap.
Kind regards,
Lukas

In both videos your telemetry appears to freeze (you can see the GPS coordinates of the drone no longer updating) despite the fact that live video keeps coming (video and data are on separate channels). Telemetry freezing is usually because of signal interference or using a lower performance device.
Hi, I tested it today after upgrading all firmware on both dji fly and dronelink. Still it doesn't work.
Watching the Video of Giovanni Iannotti I can confirm, that I have the same issues. I made a screenrecording today but unfortunatelly I can't upload it until monday.
We have tested it in several occasions, both near the railway tracks and on a field with nothing around it. Given that the issue occurs regardless of the sorroundings, I don't believe it's due to interferece. Also I would't see this as a hardware / low performance device problem. We use both Air2s and M3P with dronelink, each with different devices.
Our Air2s flies with an older phone than the M3P and still it works perfeclty.
I'm not saying those are the causes, just stating that they are the two most likely ones and the only ones I can think of. We still cannot reproduce the issue.
When you upgraded, did you try deleting the app and installing from scratch? There were no changes from 4.9.3 to 4.9.4 (which was a minor patch upgrade) that would affect flight performance. Did you upgrade from a much older version?
As I stated before:
Jim McAndrew I have deleted everything and installed it again from scratch. Version is 4.9.4

My question is, which specific version of Dronelink was the last version to work. Like did you upgrade from 4.9.3, or from some older versions since 4.9.3 wasn't required.
Jim McAndrew I honestly can't tell you which version we used so far. It worked, so I did't care about it tbh
Since we can't reproduce the issue, we need more information to try to find a fix. If you click on the missions tab in your account, and open up one of the older missions that worked, hover over your device name on the right and it will tell you the version used.

What mission is from 4.9.4 (the latest version). Do you have missions from a previous version?
Francisco Madrigal
Jim
It looks like the mission details only reports what version the device is currently using unfortunately. Can you try installing 4.9.3 from this link and see if the problem is still present?
Jim, I have exactly the same issue on a DJI mini 3 (not pro). The drone can fly in manual mode but goes crazy in mapping missions.
I have the latest firmware updated with the official DJI app and Dronelink DJI 4.9.4
Can you provide a like toward 4.9.3 for that drone model so I can try it ?
The link is in my previous message.
Ok I though it was specific to drone models.
I'll give it a try. In the meantime I switched to pix4d and add no issues which indicates it is indeed software related.
It is specific to the drone, but all the Mini 3s use Dronelink DJI (MSDKv5).
Right, but it is a question of is it Dronelink, DJI MSDK, or firmware, or some combination. Unfortunately we cannot reproduce it still.

Hola Jim
We will create a new 5.0.0 beta build based on DJI MSDK 5.9.0 (the version used in 4.9.3) to confirm that it is in fact a DJI SDK issue. Will post here once we have that ready to test.
excelente; estaré atento a la nueva versión "5.0.0 beta". gracias.
hoy he volado mi dron DJI mini 3; con dronelink versión 4.9.3. y funciono bien y correctamente. volé 7 hectareas.//
I had the problem in Cameroon
Hello again, as promissed: here is some more information from our side:
Here is the last version, that dronelink DJI worked with our mini 3 Pro. However as you can see, it still failed twice which *could* be related to wind but I think there was something wrong here aswell.
Here is a link to a video I recorded last wednesday on a construction site. The first 60 seconds was all dronelink controlling the drone, then I took over, because it was literally about to crash into the ground:
https://youtu.be/pdLqZYFlwrY
Since I heard from other users which phones they are using, here are ours:
DJI Air2s + Samsung A52 -> everything works fine
DJI Mini 3 Pro + Samsung A54 -> many problems
We are working in Germany, but I don't think this is important for this issue
@...
I can't tell you when we last calibrated the IMU and compass but I hardly believe that this matters in this case.
When using dji fly the drone behaves completely normal ... no issues with compass or IMU whatsoever.
In this case I previously started the mission and wanted to see what happens. The drone did it's dance and then started to follow the path. However it quickly started drifting away and turning somewhere else. I recorded the video after landing the drone, restarting it and resuming the mission. This behavious happens regardless of this circumstance
Hola Jim
Drone DJI mini 3 ; firmware : v01.00.0500
Radiocommande RC-N1 ; Firmware v04.16.0500
Application DJI Fly : 1.14.1
DroneLink DJI Version 4.9.3
Smartphone Android :
Samsung Galaxy A54 5G
Android 14 ; OneUI 6.1
We are trying to address the issue, but since we can't reproduce it we don't have a fix for it yet. Some others on this thread assumed that it was the update from 4.9.3 to 4.9.4 (implying something in our code), but you have just proven at least one counter example to that argument as you are still seeing it on 4.9.3. We will continue to work to resolve the issue but like I said before, we can't fix it until we know what it is, assuming it is something in our code. If it is something related to the DJI SDK or drone firmware, all we can do is report it to DJI and hope they fix it, but at the moment we have nothing to tell them since we can't reproduce it.
