Map not showing up
In the latest 2 or 3 versions of Dronelink the map is not showing up in the bottom left corner. I've tried making the map fullscreen and toggling the different options and it's just black. Currently on version 4.8.2 (2277) on the DJI Smart Controller RM500 and an DJI Air 2s.

Are you sure it is connected to WiFi and all the DL app permissions have been granted. Make sure location services are enabled. Maybe check all that real quick and see if it works. Also that old controller may not give you the best experience as it is a low performance device. It will work but something to be aware of.

Yes the DJI RC is connected to WiFi and all Dronelink permissions, including location, are granted.
Ok. I don’t use that controller so looks like DL will to to assist further. App is working without any issues using my iPad so must be that specific device. Only other thing I can recommend is deleting the app and reinstalling it fresh. Sorry I can’t help more. It’s almost always a set up issue.

Ok. There are usually 11 permissions when using an Android OS device. Not sure if they are all the same as with other Android OS devices but you should be able to go into the devices settings and confirm they are all granted. Unless there is a completely separate issue when using that controller it’s almost always in the set up as I mentioned. You said you cleared all the data but did you completely delete and install the APK directly from the DL page link I provided. There are a few others which use that controller without issues but as always there could be something else.

Exactly the same thing happens to me DJI Air2s, same version of dronelink and RCm500....I asked here a week ago and no one knew how to solve the issue and I urgently need a solution.
I have formatted the RC, reinstalled the app as Dronelink recommends, I have given all the permissions and the map still does not appear when I toggle the view and then when I return the view to the flight image the map disappears.
Hi Sergio Torres Zolezzi. Jim did ask you about 11 days ago what the specific issue was but you never responded so probably figured you got it working. Many pilots post question and never follow up or respond so it’s easy to assume they got it figured out. With that said, Sounds like both of you are having the same issue which is the app works but no map at all. DL has amazing support and since this is an obvious issue regarding the old SC I’m sure DL staff will try to assist. Just want to clarify that everything is working, the app connects, you can load missions but with no map view. This post is only a few hours old so give it some time for the DL staff to read it and assist.

Haven’t heard back if the two of you got the map working. If you still can’t get the map to work and haven’t received any additional assistance from DL staff then you can try emailing them. I’d send a link to this post so they can assist further. They are usually on here every day but maybe this somehow got missed. support@dronelink.com
Please post a screen recording showing the issue, and if possible do it in the latest beta build.

What happens if you take it outdoors and get some satellites locked in, as that screen recording shows 0 locked so how does it know where it is to display a map?

Martin Reading same issue with GPS lock. Map is just blank and not loading at all.
Map will work without being connected to drone. I open DL app all the time to download plans before I go out to fly and map works. Seems like it’s one of the permissions or location services issue. But if everything has been doubled checked then maybe something else. Since it’s both with the old smart controller it’s anyone’s guess. I’d suggest updating to a modern device.

Mike, yes this is a device specific issue with the DJI Smart Controller. It worked a few versions ago with no issues, the map stopped working 2 or 3 updates ago.

We will add it to the backlog, but we probably won’t be fixing it any time soon to be honest. The Smart Controller is hopelessly outdated and all but abandoned by DJI.
Same issue with the RM500 and also with an outdated smatphone (Nexus 6) running on android 7.x
Where could we found archive of Dronelink APK to downgrade the version ?
Mavic 2 pro could only be compatible with the RM500, so I would be appreciated (even it is old hardware) if the issue could be resolved in futur apk revision or let possible have access to older revision.
