It all depends IF DJI release an SDK for the 4, if they do going on past history you'll have to wait till this time next year to find out but don't hold your breath
You can read about the pros/cons and trade-offs of virtual stick vs onboard waypoints here: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052533133-What-makes-Dronelink-different-or-better-than-other-apps-
Having said that, if DJI ever adds the Mini 4 it will probably be in MSDKv5, which doesn’t support the same onboard waypoints format as MSDKv4 (which is what Dronelink uses), so it will be yet another effort to support the new format and we have no plans to do that work at this time even for the Mavic 3 enterprise, which is already supported.
Darn, I was just about to purchase a DJI Mini 4 Pro, you're saying it won't be supported likely within the next year?
Francis Lavigne-Theriault, I rather much doubt it, a year from release is about the norm, mini2 is great in that weight category
That's right, I have one, but you can't fly it without a transponder now, so upgrading makes sense. I figured go with the Mini 4 Pro over the Mini 3 Pro, but not being able to map is something to take into consideration.
If I can give my thoughts and suggestions on this. With all the DJI issues with the Mini 3 after 6 months I would not purchase it and use it with DL for professional purposes, (business). It would be cheaper to get an RFID module for your Mini 2 if that is required and not have all the issues since it uses the MSDK v4 and it has been proven to be a dependable drone to use with DL. A lot of other pilots which do mapping with the Mini 2 or any other of the Legacy drones which work just as well. In the end it’s going to be a 12 or maybe 20 Mp camera for photos and either resolution will give you great results if set up properly and then processed using your imaging/ stitching software. If you did want to shoot in high resolution (48 Mp) then you would need professional Growth plan at minimum to even do that and the difference overall will be minimal. Just some things to consider. I’ll take a proven dependable drone over a more expensive and unproven drone any day. Enjoy….
Totally agree with this, the mini2 chucks out some great results & works a treat with Dronelink, I use the RC-N1 with mine, with either my LG V50 (mainly when shooting using follow mode), galaxy fold Z4, or my default go to device is my galaxy tab 7FE
So, what you're saying is newer is not always better? :-)
Couldn't agree more as I have a long history of hard/software "upgrades" to back this up. I'll hang on to my MA2 for the foreseeable future.
Yep. I have a MM which I rarely fly but my I have a lot of flights and air time with my MA2 and it has been a workhorse. I did purchase the Air 3 which is amazing especially for the money. If they do ever build the SDK for it I’m hoping it will work as well as the Mavic 3E does. It would be great addition to my fleet to use with DL. For now the Air 3 has the same waypoints capability as the Mavic 3 and overall I’m very happy utilizing that. It works great. You never know what the future will provide.
Thanks All
Hi Mike,
Which is the better user friendly ?
Dji mini 4 pro or Dji mini 3 pro. I want to buy one for my personal video making. I will go with affordable price and easy to use. Lastly, I have taken decision about Dji mini 4 pro. But I need to more information about apps feature. By the way, I have seen 3 difference Dji mini 4 pro that is my another confusing question.
Jennifer M. Orr, as things stand at the minute, there is no support for the mini4 with software such as Dronelink at this point in time, as DJI haven't added it to the SDK, which means the answer to your question is the Mini3.
My personal opinion is that in this class you can't beat the Mini2, when looking at bang for the buck
As Mentioned in this thread and as Martin stated the Mini 4 is not supported. The Mini 3 Pro with the RC-N1 controller and fly more combo has come down in price since the release of the Mini 4. Mini 3 Pro combo is about $850 so not too bad for what you get. A bit more depending on if you want a one or two year care refresh. The Mini 2 fly more combo you can find for under $600 so it will depend on how much you want to spend and if the additional functions with a better camera is needed. Since it will be used for personal usage as a Hobbyist either one will work with the DL app. The Mini 2 can be used with either an Android OS device or an Apple IOS device. The Mini 3’s will only work with Android. If you did already purchased the Mini 4 then there is nothing you can do as the thread states there is no support. Hope that helps. Good luck.
