Any known issues with Xiaomi Pro 13 & Dronelink for Mini3Pro + RC-N1 ?
Hi folks,
in order to use waypoints for movie recording with a DJI Mini3Pro I want to purchase a license of Dronelink. I would also need to buy a RC-N1. Before I go ahead with this: Does anyone in the forum know about issues relating to Xiaomi's smartphone Pro 13 ?
There are already issues reported with other modern smartphones:

I understand that I need to use the download from Dronelink's website - the Google Playstore version does not work with Mini 3 Pro.
I am also not entirely sure if I should take the "Premium" or "Elite" level license. if I start with Premium, can I later upgrade to Elite without the need to purchase an entirely new license ?
Thanks for you effort !

At this stage you should only consider Dronelink with the mini 3 if you are willing to participate fully in the beta. might be an idea to give these 2 articles a read, pay particular attention to the paragraphs that I've screenshot:

With regards to upgrading from Premium to Elite, you'd just pay the price difference for the upgrade
Great advice Martin, thanks a lot !
Although I read the article twice I did not realize that everything but Mini3Pro+RCPro ist still in Beta - until your reply.
It basically means that every smartphone combination with RC-N1 has a "risk attached" (relating to Mini3Pro) because it is in beta as of Sep 2023.
If I understand it correctly this means: I must be ready at any time to take over drone control manually - if the virtual stick fails for some reason. Worst case would be to initiate an RTH action (and have the drone configured to do so automatically if it looses connection to the controller anyway).
I guess I will swallow that risk for the benefit of waypoints. Just ordered a used RC-N1 for 60 EUROs.
point 1 in second paragraph ;)
Hi Boris. Even when the DL app crashes the drone is not going to fly away, crash or cause it to react any differently than when flying with DJI Fly app. All the settings stick across apps so the recorded home-point, RTH on disconnect which is what is set by default unless you change it, the max altitude, max distance, RTH altitude etc, are all stored in the drones firmware. If the app crashes then no commands are being sent to the drone so it will just hover. A few ways to take back control and a lot of people don’t realize these drones can be flown without any app. If concerned you can just open the DJI Fly app and it will connect to give you the live camera feed back. As always I set my RTH altitude much higher then what is needed to ensure it will not hit anything. So really no risk different then when flying manually. Just some thoughts and info. Enjoy…
Hi Mike,
thanks for your thoughtful comments ! The dronelink-forum seems to be a good community with experienced and helpful drone experts.
So far I have only about 10 hours of flight experience with my drones Mini3Pro (DJI RC) and an Avata. My approach is that of a video creator, i.e. the drones are to me just flying movie camera's - although I have to admit drone piloting is a lot of fun, too. And we can see a lot of interesting stuff.
You wrote "...If concerned you can just open the DJI Fly app and it will connect to give you the live camera feed back..."
Just to make sure: this means when using a smartphone with RC-N1 and Dronelink crashes (or I just close it) than I can just launch DJI Flyapp and no connect-process is neccessary ? (in contrast to switching between Goggles2 and DJI RC for Mini3Pro control) So RC-N1 is connected to the Mini3Pro and it receives commands either from FlyApp or Dronelink ?

Yes. As long as you make sure to completely force close the DL app after it crashes. The DJI app will eventually connect once opened. You can still control the drone with the sticks until then or hit RTH. These GPS drones are amazing and it’s hard to make a mistake. This link shows how to force close any DJI app properly with an Android device. It says for DJI Pilot but procedure is the same. It must be forced closed as swiping it over won’t force stop the app. Hope this helps.

Great answer Mike, thanks for your support !
The used RC-N1 controller purchased via Ebay arrived today. Next week I will set it up with the Xiaomi Pro 13 and Dronelink.
There is only one desire left: waypoints for the Avata. I guess this is not possible due to lack of a proper SDK from DJI.
Maybe some PC based AI-software following the drone with a PTZ-camera and controlling the RC Motion 2 with servomotors. Well, this sounds like utopia :-) and might be in the 5-digits cost range.
