Couple of questions and comments
First off…thank you! Dronelink is incredible. I have been flying professionally for 7 years or so now. Dronelink is the best thing I have ever seen to map and thermal image roofs. Really amazing. A few questions. Is there a way to save templates so I don’t have to change the settings every time? I can’t seem to find any info on this. Apologies if i have missed it. I would also like to lock my drone in a forward position and not have that change for the entire path. The only way i have been able to pull something off is set the reference to north and the drone heading to 180…flight direct is 90. This works but I would rather not have to strafe my drone the entire time. Is there a workaround to allow me to do this while keeping my drone pointed in a direction of my choosing? Thanks in advance. In the process of planning 5 schools I have to Thermal Image this week and I’m really looking forward to putting Dronelink to the test. If the drone flys like to preview does…I will be sold for life. Really amazed with this and thrilled to be on board.

You can select any component you created and add to an existing Repo or create a new one. This way you use that from the Repo and add to any other plan as it was set. Not sure about your drone heading question as the drone always flys at 0° on a path, forward unless you did change it. If you want it to go back to 0° after setting it differently then just add a path action with a drone heading of 0° of path and it will go back to flying forward. Path actions are a fantastic way to get a lot of control of many different functions. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the help Mike!
On a different subject…how close can I expect my actual flight to be compared to the simulator?
Appreciate the info.
Hi Ernie, your actual flight will be pretty close to what you see in the simulator, when allowing for factors such as wind, GPS accuracy etc, if drone link calculates that during a flight a drone is too far off course, it will pause the mission and inform you that is the case. when you hit the resume button Dronelink will then try to fly the drone back to where it should be at that point, before resuming the mission
Wow. That’s outstanding Martin! Thanks for the info sir
The other thing to remember Ernie is if you give up with the mission on that particular occassion, you can come back at a later date, reload the mission, and you will get given a choice of if you want to abort the previous mission and start a fresh mission, or continue the already started version
Ernie
The simulator is a good start, but checking it in 3D in Google Earth is much more accurate, so I suggest running it in that as it will often show if you are going to hit the ground, or run into a tree, that you usually won't see in the DL simulator. This video shows how if you are not sure.

GPS horizontal accuracy is usually within a few feet but can be off by as much as 16ft. Altitude is controlled by barometric pressure, so a sudden change in weather can have a big impact on altitude, so keep an eye on that as it can change from one flight to the next. Landing and taking off again will reset it.
Will do Barry. I like being sure. I would also like to load the missions onto the controller without having cloud connection. I’ve tried that but it does lot seem to work the way I assumed it would. So far, I’ve had to stay connected to my phone to use Dronelink. I may not be doing something correctly though. The only reason I care is if I end up somewhere I have no access to internet. Sometimes that’s a possibility. Still digging into this subject
" I would also like to load the missions onto the controller without having cloud connection"...
Hmmm... sounds like a good subject for a Five Minute Friday :)
Ahhhhh I just figured out who I was talking to. The guy! How do I track you down Barry? I’ve heard of your live streams but don’t know where to see them.
Ernie
I haven't done a live stream yet - I keep thinking about it though, so maybe one day.
You can see a list of the Five Minute Friday videos here though https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLK_joCFfIhJ8Tvsk51zHJWDtVnJ7S0Vln

Just found you. Just searched your name. I’ll be watching. Thanks for all the help Barry👊🏼
Thanks so much Barry. Truly appreciate the help! I have no room for error in these missions and this really gives me confidence in what I’m doing. Trying to stay loyal to my more streamline plan. Been flying an inspire 1 and a matrice 210 rtk for a while now. Trying to get more done with less with the mavic enterprise 3t. This will make hauling large cases of gear around a lot less needed than in the past. Been a bit trying with DJi not being on top of the cloud. A friend recommended Dronelink. Turns out…it’s the best move I could have made it appears. Thrilled to streamline my workflow! Onward and upward.
Look forward to talking more Barry. Very grateful🙏🏼. Thank you
Ernie
If you are not aware of it - using a verification mission is critical when flying near things. It runs the whole mission facing forward so you can see what is it flying towards and the collision avoidance will be of use. Once you have tested it you can fly with more confidence.

Just watched it. Makes a lot of sense! Nice but of insurance
Ernie? You cannot download to the controller storage but you can download any plan for off-line within the DL app. This way you won’t need any connection later. I Always download any plan I may want to run before I leave home on Wi-Fi just in case I have no service where I’m going. You need no Wi-Fi or cellular connection to use DL which is the same as when using DJI App. Only issue you may run into is the map may not be fully cached and when you zoom in it will go grey. As long as you load the app and allow time for the map to cache before leaving service it usually works but sometimes it doesn’t. Only thing you can do at that point since the controllers have no cellular service is use hotspot from a device and connect to it and allow the map to cache. Once done you won’t need it on.

Ok Mike. I’ll try this again today with these instructions. Thanks for the info!
Should have no issues if downloaded in the app. Enjoy.
