Possible to do a multi-day timelapse?

wrybread

I'm wondering if it's possible to create a multi-day timelapse using Dronelink? In other words to take just one picture during a flight, and return to the same spot the next day to take exactly the same pic again, etc.

I'd be stitching the images together myself.

Thanks for any insights.

And I just used the beta of Dronelink with my Mini 3 Pro and wow, made a map flawlessly. Very excited to have these new features for the Mini 3 Pro, I feel like I just got a new drone.

Create a blank plan and add just the photo component. You can set the altitude, gimbal pitch, drone heading, POI etc. You can add a camera component list which will set the camera settings so they are the same each time like ISO, Shutter or just set it up manually for each mission to look best for the environmental conditions at that time. Should work for what you want.

Awesome! Thank you. Windy day here today so I can't fly yet, dying to try all the new features that Dronelink just enabled for my Mini 3 Pro.

The procedure Mike (Arizona Wyldwest) posted, which was described to me when I asked a similar question, works great.

On a similar note I have a Mission I've saved that records video around a property, focused on the main home. It's a very scenic, rural location and my plan is to fly this same mission throughout the year then when all the seasons are captured, put together a video that transitions from the green of summer, to the bright colors of fall, to (hopefully) snow covered trees & buildings.

Yes!  I have done this many times.  Photos are easier then video but both can be done.

Here are a few examples:  https://vimeo.com/showcase/6018898

Well that's  just great. Here I am thinking I've pioneered a radical new approach to time lapse video, only to find out-- once again I'm too late to the dance.  :-)

But seriously, some fantastic progress videos you have there. Thanks for the links.

Pains me to think of what I had to go through 'way back when" I was shooting construction progress stills hanging out the window from a Cessna 172. Those were the days... not.

The progress shots you linked to are indeed impressive. Notable is the alignment of each still image for the duration. Assuming you're using a photo type mission, how much adjustment (crop/zoom) do you need to do to get such a perfect alignment? Even watching very closely, it's almost if the camera is mounted on a permanent structure of some kind!

    Hi Tim B

Interesting you should say that.  I used to spend a LOT of time lining the shots up - but I found a better way to do things over time.

I'll create a 5 minute Friday video showing how to do that.  If you are not already subscribed to that channel on Youtube, here is the link.  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLK_joCFfIhJ8Tvsk51zHJWDtVnJ7S0Vln

Better way you say? Count me in. I'll look forward to the video and yep, I'm subscribed and have watched 'em all. Great resource.

I also subscribed and am making my way through the videos. Great resource.

I plan to submit a feature request to Dronelink to add the ability to "bookmark" (maybe not the word) a position on the fly. That would mark the drone and camera's exact position on the fly without having to go through an elaborate process. Useful for:

    - sending the drone up to get the same view of something again

    - timelapses

    - often when I pause a video to take a picture I have to move the drone slightly to get better framing for the pic, and then when I restart the video and edit the two pieces together I get a jump point. That wouldn't happen if I could just return to the bookmarked location.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts on that, or if they think the feature is already there and simple enough to use that my version of it is unlikely to be implemented.

For photos, just use the on the fly photo function, then once flown just save that as a mission in a repository, Barry has done a 5mF on how to do this

You'll be happy to hear that the next Five Minute Friday will be how to auto align photos you've taken for creating a timelapse :)

    Stay tuned!
