Drone not following grid lines
Flew a mission today, that I have flown before as well as many dronelink missions. This was a simple double grid with orbit. The P4P was all over the place!! Could not stay on the light path, sped up, slowed down etc. Have tried yet but each pic was so far off the previous one, don't know if the overlap software will be able to process them(don't know the limitations)! But is something is not right. I did upgrade to the new app version today. Any problems with this??? any help is greatly appreciated!! Thx Bolton

Does it happen in the latest beta?
I tried a very simple map this morning using the beta version v4.5.0 (2.4.4) on iOS and it seemed to run straight and clean.
Hi!
I had the same problem, after changing from Classic UI to Modern UI.
Never ever had this problem with the Classic UI.
Plan:
Flight:
PS. The wind was below 10km/h.
To be clear this was a kernel fix and has nothing to do with the UI. Please confirm it is working in 4.5.0 beta.
I will check to see if it is in beta. If not, how do I make change it to the new beta FW??
But why is the current version all sudden not working??
Here you go: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033520874-How-do-I-join-and-test-the-Beta-app-
Trying to get into beta. What is the 'public link' on my device??
Are you on iOS or Android?
ios
OK- follow the instructions here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/PumJOBFK
After installing Testflight you must click the link from the iOS device you intend to use. It will install (replace) thee Dronelink on your device with the beta version.
Do we know if this is effecting mapping flight only? Are inspection missions (and for that matter everything else) hosed due this?
It affects all components.
Effects even the non-beta kernel?
To be clear, it affects the production kernel and is fixed in the beta only right now.
Production kernel is version 4.4.2.238?
I'll send a request for beta to help work out the issues
First simple test with beta 4.5 does look to have fixed the issues mentioned in this thread.
Help me out here! Still not getting this. Do I need to download the beta version? Can't find it. The instructions of the link that you provided to me to accept an invitation or click the public link. Can't find either. Thx for the help!
To join the beta, follow the instructions here https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033520874-How-do-I-join-and-test-the-Beta-app-
Yes, if you follow Matin's instructions above, getting the beta 4.5 is quite easy. I flew mapping and inspections mission using 4.5 beta and they went exactly as I planned them.
Is it ok to post on this thread since it’s at least a year old, or should I start a new topic? I’ll try here first… please advise if I need to begin a new topic.
I am flying a Phantom 4 Pro with DroneLink 4.9.3 kernel 294 and I have had irregular flight paths on every single grid mapping mission I’ve ever flown with DroneLink for over a year. I figured it was just the way DroneLink worked their magic. The orthos seem to come out OK, it just looks very inefficient. The drone also does a weird little dance at the ends of each row and does what looks like a circle and backs up before starting each leg. Very odd…
Today I tried a horizontal facade mission (not a pop-up mission) set to 20 ft from the facade and the irregular flight path made the simple 88 ft line look like a drunk person was flying and it came much closer than 20 feet a few times due to the sweeping in and out motions to the point I was extremely nervous and came so close to aborting the mission manually. It finally stopped itself after 1.5 passes during one of its inward swings and just hovered until I aborted the mission and landed it safely. I can’t say for certain, but I figured the anti collision settings kicked and stopped it. There’s no way I can complete this mission with this kind of irregularity. My nerves can’t handle it. LOL
I see that this, or a similar issue, may have been addressed in a beta version, but I believe my version was released after the beta version. So, the fix should have been included in my version. I would sincerely appreciate any guidance. I have a growth plan if it matters.
Thanks in advance.
Can you share one of the maps that does it?
Do you have a different drone you can test with?
Hi Jim, thanks for the quick reply. When you ask for a map, do you mean a map like above that shows the path of the drone during the flight? I would be happy to share if I knew how to get that. OR, do you mean you want the DroneLink component from the mission? I’m happy to share that as well but I don’t know how to export that either right off hand. I’ll go take a look in the app and see if it’s intuitive and post back.
I took another person’s advice on this thread or one similar to it and just calibrated the IMU and the gimbal but haven’t tested it yet and won’t be able to until Monday (today is Saturday evening) at the earliest.
To answer your question about other drones to test with, I have a Mini 3 Pro but I have the controller with the screen and cannot load third party apps on it. I also have a Phantom 4 RTK, but it too has a screen and I’m unable to load third party apps on it.
Thanks again.
Hi Damon Spurlock, I think jim means a can you share a mission with a mapping component in it that exhibits this behaviour, instructions on the various methods of sharing missions can be found here https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/7912083943059-Sharing-Mission-Plans
Hope that helps
Thanks, @Martin Reading. I’ve placed 2 links below in hopes that they’re what you and Jim are looking for. One will be for the “test” flight of 5 floors which was an On the Fly mission, and the second to the full mission which is NOT an On the Fly mission. Unfortunately, I’ve made a few changes tonight by adding the camera commands and found the follow drone field and have activated it. But, the actual mission element is basically as it was on Friday when the erratic flight path happened.
Thanks so much to you and Jim for your time and assistance. I sincerely appreciate you both.

Can you share one of the grid mapping missions first?
Here’s one of the mapping missions where the simple east - west flight lines consisted of serious sweeping left and right turns on the long straightaways and weird circular motions at the ends like it had overshot it’s mark once it moved to the new line. I hope that made sense…

Ok so I just flew 2 legs of this in each direction with my mini2, some very slight deviations from course on the right hand end, but as can be seen the wind over there was gusting to just under 19MPH
I have calibrated the gimbal and IMU and will do a test flight in a few hours to see if anything is corrected. I need to find out why this erratic swooping flight path is happening so I can feel confident in flying my P4P within 20 ft of a high rise for their facade inspection. The land mapping provides a safer area for the deviations, even though they're unnecessary and annoying. I'll also uninstall and reinstall the DroneLink app on my iPad just as a good practice. I'll turn on the drone following thing during my flights and will, hopefully, have a path or two to upload later today.
Again, thanks for everyone's help!
