DJI Mavic Mini gimbal problem during map mission

Etienne Venter

During a mapping mission, my mini's gimbal jumps from the -90° position to somewhere in the -70s after the first photo and then stays there. The exact degree varies from mission to mission but it always jumps. This is a new problem as it worked perfectly at -90° before. I've recalibrated the gimbal, but that did not solve the problem. Is there something I can do?

when you notice it happen, just use the scroll wheel to set it back down to -90, I've had similar happen on my mini 2 after a battery change and resetting it with the scroll wheel while in flight does the job

Problem is, that it jumps after every photo so I've got to hold the gimbal wheel rotated the whole time. And some of the photos, with the 2-second interval, will capture before it's completely reset to -90°. Surely it's a bug that needs addressing?

I just ran this mission and the gimbal stayed at -90 the whole time.

I have also run the mission twice with my DJI mini 2 / android OnePlus and it stayed at -90

Etienne. We Haven’t heard back from you if it’s still an issue or not. If still an issue I’d check the firmware with DJI Assistant PC software, not with the DJI App. Even if it’s up to date I’d do a refresh which can only be done on the PC software. It’s one of the first things DJI Reps will advise to do if any issues with drone. It could be as simple as that. Can’t hurt and doesn’t take long. Good luck.

I've still got the problem. Tried running the gimbal on -90° to path but that also didn't work. I'll give the DJI Assistant PC software a go and report back.

I ran your plan as well and no issues @ -90 pitch. I believe refreshing the firmware may fix. I ran a plan from another plot just recently with similar issue with gimbal error and firmware refresh fixed it. Good luck.

I have the same problem. I update the firmware and still the same. I guess is something about the RC signal, when it's the full bar I haven't seen this issue, but where the signal goes weak it starts to change the tilt to 70 something. I will reinstall dronelink and try again. Any updates about this topic? It's frustrating.

We were not able to reproduce it with the original mission plan, can you share yours? Can you try flying the same plan in a different location and see if it still happens?

    Thanks for your response.

I had the same problem with different missions in different locations. As I said, I see this problem more often when the signal is weak, or when there are strong winds, and mostly when the drone finishes one row it changes the tilt and it's supposed to change back to 90 degrees (if it was set to 90) but sometimes it never happens.

Please provide a mission plan that reproduces the issue as we have not been able to reproduce it.
