When performing an "On the Fly" Orbit, is the software using lat/long (GPS location) to determine the center (or POI)?

I am just curious if when performing an "On the Fly" Orbit, if the program is tracking a specific latitude and longitude to determine the center of the orbit, of if it is using pixels/color to keep focused on the center (POI)?

When you set up an on the fly orbit, you fly to a point above the center of the orbit, and mark that point, you'll then see the coordinates on your screen, which the drone will then fly around
