Unsupported Execution Engine DJI (Onboard) Phantom 4
I just excitedly purchased the Elite plan today, figured out the Mission Planner and ran out to run my first mission.....only to get the message "Unsupported Execution Engine DJI (Onboard)". I attempted to disconnect and reconnect, etc but always with the same results. I expected with the vast increase in cost from every other app I've tried recently (Litchi, DroneDeploy, etc) that dronelink should at least be as easy as the free apps/cheaper apps to use.....
Please Help! Thank you!

Is all your firmware up to date properly
Yes, I got out an old tablet that still supports DJI GO 4 and verified that as one of the troubleshooting steps.
Jonathon. Dronelink has incredible support. Jim is on here every day so hang in there. I’m sure they will be able to figure out why you are having issues. Cheaper or easier doesn’t always mean better. Patience usually pays off. 🤙🏼 Have you tried flying with a Virtual Joystick mission to see if it works correctly ? Just curious…..
Thanks Mike! Once I figured out the differences from what I'm used to DL does seem much more modern. Once weather and work finally permitted I was able to successfully launch and run (even with disconnects and wind blowing me off course 😁) a couple of Virtual Joystick missions last night.
I should have probably been more detailed in my original post:
I am currently using a Phantom 4 with an old Pixel 3XL (currently on Android 12) dedicated to flight apps. I have access to a much less capable (but also only on Android 9) tablet that DL didn't care for in my testing (I don't blame it) which I keep around for DJI GO 4 access (since of course DJIG4 doesn't work on Android 12).
Due to my frustrations with DJIG4 IMMEDIATELY after getting the P4 from my Dad (who stopped flying bc of the app himself), I got into Litchi as a way around those frustrations. I've also been heavily testing Photogrammetry using DroneDeploy as well (after a few other apps), so I'm already comfortable with force closing apps and managing which one the controller is connecting to.
Hello Jonathon,
Can you please share the mission plan with us?
And what Dronelink app version are you using?
Some commands are not supported with onboard missions, which is worth checking.

Best,

Good to hear it flew. As Jacob stated, if using DJI waypoints you are limited in what you can do compared to virtual stick. A more modern and powerful device will help greatly too. Good luck. Enjoy.
Jacob:
Pardon my ignorance, but is there a way I can share without the location? Most of my missions revolve around my house....
Mike:
A Pixel 3XL should be more than modern and powerful enough I would think....
So I just completed 1 test I didn't think of yesterday (re-reading the Onboard Waypoints page Jacob linked actually triggered the thought): My original mission after conversion was 100 waypoints.....so I deleted the last waypoint and.....SUCCESS! Off my loud little Phantom went on it's mission! 🥳My understanding was that anything over the 99 waypoint limit would have just wanted a connection to attempt to retrieve the next mission (in my case a whopping 1 waypoint)? I'd still love to solve that portion (because I love trying to know everything about everything)
I'm glad it worked and as a lifetime lurker everywhere I go, I really appreciate how many community members responded kindly in such a short time!
The converter is supposed to max out at 99 waypoints. Can you share the original mission plan so we can see if there is a bug? You can right click and move the reference to a different location for privacy if you want.
Thanks Jim! I knew there would be a simple way.....I even moved it over to a river since the original mission following a creek near my house 😎.
Here's the original mission I plotted:

and here's the DJI Waypoints conversion:

note that after moving the original mission I just re-did the conversion using the default options provided which is what I did yesterday as well.
Thanks again!
P.S. I have high confidence that the end resolution is going to be "Jon did something wrong" or something along those lines.
This looks like a bug that we introduced in 3.4.1. Will slate it to be corrected in 4.0.0.
Thanks a ton Jim! The fact that I had a response from the dev in such a short time AND you saved me troubleshooting time AND already have a fix slated is amazing.
I took dronelink with me on a trip this weekend, and while I did end up flying manually some (lesson learned and fun components will be downloaded for offline use in the future 🤦) I had a flawless experience with mapping, both from plans I made days ahead of time and on the fly.
Really fantastic platform, and I'm so glad I pulled the trigger. Expect another user soon out of my buddy I wowed with DL all weekend, and a business plan out of me as soon as I'm ready!
No problem - we would be grateful if you left a 5-star review in the App Store! (iOS | Android)
