Beta 4.0.0 (210) - Autel EVO 2 Pro - Don't See Camera List
Hello, I am wondering if I have to set the EVO 2 Pro's camera specs under the Custom option in the camera listings? I'm asking because I don't see the Autel EVO 2 Pro listed (only the DJI birds and Anafi).
My apologies if I'm missing something obvious.
Thanks,
Sean

We haven’t added the camera specs yet so yes, you can use custom for now. If you have the specs post them here and it will speed up the process.
Thanks for the clarification Jim, appreciate it.
I don't have the camera specs, but one ArcGIS user who leverages ESRI Sitescan to handle the processing of maps provided the parameters Sitescan sets while processing from an EVO 2 as follows:
SiteScan has the camera listed as an XT705_10.6_5472x3648 (RGB)
the sensor dimensions are listed as 13.133mm x 8.755mm
Focal length is 10.570mm
Principal point x is 6.566mm
and Principal point y is 4.378mm
This is unlikely anything new to you, but in the event it is it's here for reference.
Many thanks.
Sean
@Sean Timonen If you are flying an EVO II Pro using DL & an iOS device please make contact with me. I have had a difficult time getting mine to fly. I understand we are working with a beta version. See my post on this forum & FB looking for guidance.

Dave
Hi Dave,
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to connect the EVO II Pro to the Dronelink app - I tried both IOS and Android devices I own. I'm not sure what I am missing on why it's not connecting. I read your posts it appears you can connect, but the drone will not execute the mission.
I created a map mission I would like to attempt tomorrow, but after failing to connect the app/drone this afternoon I have my doubts. If you have any advice on connecting the two, I would appreciate it. If I can make the connection, I'll certainly let you know what happens with mission execution.
Thanks,
Sean
Autel only works in the iOS beta. Which build are you on?
Sean, I will admit that I too had difficulty connecting my EVO until Jim did something on his end. After Jim worked his magic I have had no difficulty connecting, using iPad!
I do not run the Explorer app while using DL.
As previously stated, DL runs fine and I can fly using it with video, map and telemetry showing. The issue I have is executing any plan, path, waypoint mission. The EVO just hovers in place and times out saying "Unable To Reach Checkpoint".
I am going to do some more testing tomorrow in a different location, not that should matter, but am willing to try.
Obviously nothing is going to work until you can connect.
We will keep in touch, hopefully Jim McAndrew can get you connected. His support is outstanding!
My apologies for the delayed reply Jim and Dave. Jim, I have build 4.0.0 (212).
On Saturday I was able to connect the drone to the app. However, when I tried to load a mapping mission the app would crash. I tried several times throughout the day with the same result. The attempts were done using my Iphone 11 (IOS 15.3.1).
It was encouraging seeing it the drone/app connection. Hoping at some point to be able to run the missions as it would be a game changer for my EVO 2 Pro as I would like to use my bulky Phantom 4 Pro less!
Appreciate the work being done to make it happen!
Can you share the mission plan causing the crash?
Jim, here is the mission: https://app.dronelink.com/sean-timonen/my-first-project/plan/7Oc3DfsMmG42dmaw3opu/pMKbuhKRwST0M0sSaTy7
Appreciate you taking a look.
Sean
Just opening it or actually hitting play? I just opened it and the app did not crash.
It would crash by opening it, couldn’t get to the point of hitting play.
Any suggestions on how to reproduce the issue? Can you try it on a different iOS device, or can you try opening a different mission plan, or just running one of the on the fly missions (lightning bolt)?
I will have time this evening to try the different variables and circle back afterwards.
Morning Jim,
I tried different missions on my Iphone and Ipad last night and results were the same. Whenever I attempted to load the mission the app would crash. It would also crash when I tried on the fly missions along with swiping on the EVO II illuminated icon in the upper left of my app - again on both devices.
In addition, I tested the same variables on builds 210 and 211 to see if that would change anything. It didn't.
Thanks,
Sean
Do you have a different device you can try it on because when I open your mission it does not crash my phone or tablet. Dave Hogle are you able to open his plan?
I can load the app on my wife's iphone this evening and see what happens.
Jim McAndrew
His plan opened fine on my PC.
Embarrassed to say can't get it open on my iPad. I'm sure its user error on my end. I'm new to the iPad (purchased just to work with EVO & DL) and have tried to click on his plan but DL doesn't open like on a PC. Just don't know my way around the iPad. Don't use it except for DL,
I'm an Android & Windows guy otherwise.
You should be able to copy his plan into your account first and see it when you open DL on the iPad.
Thanks Jim,
GOT IT, loaded fine, did 3D view and showing play button.
Not sure my EVO battery would make it to Minnesota from here in FL lol
Hello,
My schedule has been rather busy, but had some time today to try different devices with the EVO 2 Pro. Unfortunately, the other IOS devices (iPhones) I tried resulted in the app crashing. Again, the EVO 2 Pro icon appeared in the upper right in the app would appear (mostly, sometimes it wouldn't after the app crashed) and occasionally the drone's camera view would appear briefly; however, that's as far as I could get. The app would crash when trying to upload a mission or tapping on the EVO 2 icon in the app.
I made sure all apps were closed in the background. I should have asked previously, but are there any settings in the Autel Explorer app that need to be enabled/disabled for the beta version to work? Is there a certain level of storage required on the device for the app to work (grasping at straws here)? Lastly, for Jim or others with an Autel drone have there been successful missions? I'm more or less looking for success stories.
Again, really motivated to find an alternative to the Autel Explorer app. The waypoint mission planner is a mess and tons of mapping time is wasted with the drone pausing at the end of each leg of a mission.
If anyone is successfully flying with the beta version in MN, I would be grateful if there is a willingness to meet up to provide guidance.
Thanks,
Sean
Probably not any help but Since Dave got it to load with his EVO and iPad could it be a cable issue ?
Hi Mike,
Appreciate the thought. I should have mentioned that I was able to fly a mapping mission with my Phantom 4 Pro 2.0 on Sunday with no issue. That's partly the reason I'm wondering if there is some setting in the Autel Explorer app that I need to consider. However, nothing seems obvious to me with that angle of reasoning.
Good evening,
I need to present my walk of shame to the group. I discovered why I wasn't able to execute flight with the beta version for the EVO 2 Pro. The bird did not have the most recent firmware. After I uploaded the current firmware, I was able to run a mapping mission and stitched it together with Pix4Dreact. It turned out great!
I couldn't be more excited about planning various projects from my desktop!
Thanks again Jim for providing this powerful tool for Autel pilots!
Sean
🤙🏼 Sometimes it’s the simple things we miss. Glad to hear it’s working. Enjoy….
Sean Timonen I am happy for you but I still have nothing!
I tried again this morning, all FW are up to date, but I still just get a hover and than it times out.
Sean Timonen is your EVO an 8k or 6k camera?
According to Jim there may be a difference in flight characteristics
Hi Dave, I have the Pro 2 V2 (purchased 3/22); it has the 6k camera. I would highlight I ran a mapping mission without issue. Over lunch today I'll try to get a waypoint mission in to see what happens. I'll follow-up in this thread with the outcome.
Thanks
I was able to run two missions over lunch. First mission involved three waypoints plus POI (linked to waypoints). Ittook pausing/restarting the mission when the drone reached the starting point and at the first waypoint. At the first waypoint it just hovered and yawed back and forth. But after I paused/restarted the mission the EVO 2 PRO V2 proceeded with the mission like a champ capturing video and maintaining POI focus.
The second was a mapping mission. The drone flew erratically. At the end of each leg of a mapping lane it would yaw several times and lose its positioning. There was also a slight sway to the flight (not particularly straight flying) down each leg. Wind was minimal.
Finally, I would highlight that after the mapping mission I reran the waypoint mission without landing (plenty of battery life). The second time around I did not have to pause/restart. However, it did yaw for a bit at the first waypoint but went on to execute the mission without the pause/restart as with the first time.
Sean
Thanks for the update.
You experienced some of my issues but did have better luck.
I've always waited for it to time out, but will try the pause and restart.
Mine is a V1, wounder if that would have any effect.
