Dronelink and controllers like the new RC for Mini 3?
I understand that the SDK allows Dronelink to work with a DJI Mini 2 but do you reckon it might work with the Mini 3 as well, once the SDK gets updated?
Would it matter what controller bundle I get? Does Dronelink somehow need to run on the very same device that is used as a display or would it work even on the Mini 3 RC controller with its built in display?
Im taking classes in GIS and would like to try mapping with a drone, just to learn about the steps involved. I guess I could settle with a Mini 2, however it would be nice with the built in display of the Mini 3, unless its not likely to work?

It depends on the DJI SDK supporting it, but even if/when it does, the built-in screens almost always result in a worse experience than using a modern, dedicated mobile device.
I would have thought a larger display would be preferable, I fly my mini2 using a galaxy tab 7FE
Martin Readingthe problem is that in the past the smart controller hardware is too slow, or will be as you can not upgrade the processor like you can buy a new phone.
I had to buy a regular RC for my M2 as the original SC was too slow to run much of anything.
JAMES DONELSON, I use the standard controller with my mini 2 and galaxy tab 7fe tablet, the smart controllers from what i've read are far from smart
If compute power == smart then you are 100% right. I love flying with it, but for automation it's a no go.
Presumably the new one will be faster, but you can not ever upgrade the compute hardware like you can upgrade your phone.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the Mini 3 Pro "RC" controller (with display) to output to a phone/tablet only while using Dronelink, or would we need to use the RCN1 for this purpose?
I really like ease of use having a built-in display for non-automated flights, but I also don't want to entirely give up automation...
f it is any like the SC V1 then no. I can't image they would.
You might ask someone on the Mavic forum that has one.
Yeah that makes a purchasing decision difficult for a hobbyist like myself. I am also aware that the Mini 3 SDK isn't likely to be out for another year (thus no Dronelink support) but thinking long-term. Maybe I'll consider the Air 2S or even save a lot of money with the Mini 2.
I don't touch a DJI product until it's been out for a year. They openly admit we are the Beta testers.
On the DJI forum one the the DJI reps (bots?) said that the reason why SDK's take so long is because they want to wait until the code is fully baked - so the SDK can be perfect (LOL).
The beta for the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro is now available.
