Lightning flight mode - orbit, camera tilts to wrong angle.

Steve Combes

The only way I have found to use something similar to POI mode with the mini2 while taking photos is to use the lightning flight mode and select orbit.

I set the centre point and radius all with the camera set to the correct angle, start the mission and set the camera to 2 second interval shots. then the drone moves off and does the circle, however the camera is moving from the framed position I have set and not taking an orbit of the subject.

ended up having to fly it manually.

I have the flight log, but it wasn't a mission it was the ad hoc flight mode.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/0z1ord92kr5t9zi/Failed%20orbit.log?dl=0

it did the mission fine the drone just didnt face the centre of the circle.

Parameters were set to photo, and the default speed.

    thanks

ok to share the mission even something like an orbit as you describe do the following:

    1. open the web app
    2. navigate to the home screen on the left
    3. click on the little aircraft symbol at the bottom
    4. find the appropriate mission in the list
    5. click on the ... at the top
    6. select copy, and copy to a public repository
    7. go to the saved mission in the repository where you've just saved and copy and paste the resultant link here

sorry but there is no entry for today. I have a few in there from successful plans but nothing for this flight.

I will try again when I have more time on site, but I couldnt delay this morning as I didnt want to overfly anyone so had to do it very early in the morning.

    no problem

I’ve seen a few with like this and it may be when your setting it up. You need to fly the drone to the actual location of the POI then mark. Drone needs to be directly above the location/ POI you want to rotate around. Then fly to the distance away from the center you just marked to set the diameter of the orbit around that POI. Then adjust gimbal at pitch and set it to what you want. The rest is whatever camera, speed, direction etc. you want to use. This may not be why but some adjust the distance from center and adjust gimbal on the POI and then set it thinking the gimbal is setting the POI. It’s where the drone is when setting the center point. Good luck.
