mapping with poor or no cell data available
I will be doing some mapping in Europe with a mini 2 and dronelink. However, my iPhone service in Europe will mean that I have little or no connectivity to the internet when not connected to wifi. If I download for offline use Google Maps for the area being mapped, will that help, is that necessary?
Or would it be necessary to have off-line map data loaded into dronelink?
I'm new to all this (but have had a great first dozen flights with the mini 2 here in the USA), so any clarification will be much appreciated. [no crashes, just a brief brush with a couple leaves]

Just download the plan for off-line use prior to leaving Wi-Fi or service area. Also may want to load both DJI and then the DL app prior to leaving and allow the maps to be freshly loaded. I fly in areas with no service and Wi-Fi only iPad and have had no issues except with the map if I don’t load prior to leaving. If I need to change something then I use Hotspot with my iPhone then once done I turn it off since it’s not needed. Also Google maps is not what DL uses. They use MapBox for the DL Native app. Just load the app and let the map load as explained above. Good luck.
Here is a link for help and a lot more info.

Thanks so much Mike - your in-depth explanation has both clarified things for me, and saved me more wasted time searching on my own!
Happy to help Mark. Enjoy…
