Broswer performance information
I'm working on a project that has a very large project and I thought people might be interested in performance information.
When trying to run the simulation using Chrome on a large plan, using Chrome, I would run into the "Aw Snap!" error with it telling me I was out of memory.
The PC is an older i7 CPU machine with 16GB of ram, which should be enough. It also has a GTX1060 GPU with 6GB of RAM but I don't believe that is used by DL
Here's what I found in order of speed.
- Macbook Air with an M1 processor - 8GB RAM - using Safari - easily the fastest
- PC i7 CPU - 16GB of RAM - using Firefox - works OK, but about 50% slower than the above
- Macbook Air with an M1 processor - 8GB RAM - using Chrome - gives the Aw Snap error
- PC i7 CPU - Using Chrome - gives the Aw Snap error
So, if you find yourself using Chrome and running out of memory, try a different browser, or even a different operating system!

Chrome is a notorious memory hog, for the vast majority of things i use Waterfox which is a branch off from Firefox, and seems ok on my laptop which has

Thanks for posting this, tho it's a bug in Chrome, not a memory issue. Try updating Chrome, we've seen it help some, but Safari is faster either way. We use Chrome and Firefox on PCs.

It really is. Like many people, I switched to it a long time ago and, back then, it was lightning fast, especially compared with the competition. The integrations with Google services work well, which makes life a lot easier. But it does take up a lot of memory.
Maybe I'll spend a bit of time and try Firefox on the PC for a while.
Good info. I use Firefox for almost everything on my IPad and PC. My Personal preference and for some of the reasons above.
