DJI Mini 2 - Account Upgrade Required - Premium accounts do not support the MAVIC_MINI_2

Michael Goddard

I recently setup my Premium account and am ready to fly my first mission. I've created the Map but when I go to fly I get the message: Account Upgrade Required - Premium accounts do not support the MAVIC_MINI_2.

I am running on Android on a Pixel 8 Pro. I went to the Dronelink download site and selected the Mini 2 and Android, downloaded and installed the app that way. (not via Google Play Store)

I have confirmed that the DJI firmware is up to date and I have also performed a Force Stop on the DJI Fly App.

Any tips? Please help! I really want to fly!

I think you've probably got the wrong one, go to Google play and download and install from there

Unforunately, Google Play is no longer the recommended approach: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/50274824976659-Why-is-the-Google-Play-store-no-longer-supporting-the-latest-Dronelink-app

Thanks for the speedy response. I uninstalled the app then installed directly from Google play. That worked and I just ran my first mission. Mapped the area around my home! Now onward to the processing....

Jim McAndrew I knew that was the case for the later drones, but thought the mini 2(TBD op drone), and what I fly myself was still via there

Google won't let us put out new builds anymore because the v4 DJI SDK needs to be updated for a specific requirement they have. You can still install the previous release (5.2.1) but he won't be able to get 5.3.0 or later unless downloading the APK directly from us now. It's really awesome.

    Hello Michael,

Give the Download page for the Mini 2 another go, it should now point to the correct APK after this last update (should be this name "app-arm64-v8a-prod-release.apk")

    Best,
    Jacob

In that case, what is Dronelink (beta), which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store?
Since this is a new release, it is a release candidate.
    The version available is 5.3.0.
The update date is March 24, 2026.

Google doesn’t seem to have the same restriction for beta releases, but we don’t want people to have to sign up for the beta just to get new versions of Dronelink, and there wouldn’t really be a way to stop them from getting actual beta releases. Most of our user base as already transitioned to the MSDKv5 app (Dronelink DJI), which is distributed directly from our Google Drive and it seems to work well, so I guess this is where we are.

Jim McAndrew, I'm guessing 316 is the latest, and when there's an update we'll get an in app notification

It is the latest, but unless you are on the beta track in Google, you won't get it. The article says what I am trying to explain: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/50274824976659-Why-is-the-Google-Play-store-no-longer-supporting-the-latest-Dronelink-app

TLDR: you have to switch to installing the updates via APK directly.

I do have it, as I installed from yourself when I started testing the Google maps, and terrain follow waypoints 👍
