Mission - miss alignment on multiple flights

George Crawford

Hi,

I have an orbit mission and then 4 photos setup as a mission for a construction site but unfortunately when I tried to create a hyperlapse of the orbit fading slowly between each part of the construction the videos don't lineup.

I also checked the photos taken and these don't line up either.

I have taken off from the exact same point, got a brick that is marked, but the shots don't line up as I hoped they would.

Any help would be great. I'm using the latest version with a mini3pro.

Thanks in advance,

George

The GPS on DJI’s consumer drones can be +-4m accuracy. We added georectification to try to help: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/4416141457171-How-to-Enable-Drone-Offsets-Mission-Alignment-Georectification

In the end if you want ultimate precision, you need a drone with RTK.

If your drone is flying outside the U.S. and you encounter the navigation errors mentioned in

    https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/44976287490451-Dronelink-DJI-beta-5-2-2-308-DJI-mini-3-frequently-occurring-navigation-errors

And illustrated in the video https://youtu.be/wTmXOTuyRss

It is recommended that you fly in offline mode.

Or better yet, use version 5.3.0 (currently in beta), which fixes this bug

If this does not apply to you, other tips can be provided to resolve the issue discussed in this thread.

I have mini3pro but the issue doesn't look like that in the video.

    Hi Jim McAndrew,

I tried having a look at adding this but unfortunately it is unavailable on my play.

I have a Premium Hobbyist plan.

I'm looking at a Air3s which I can use waypoints on directly, but would this have the same issue if run with dronelink as still relies on GPS?

    Thanks

    for a construction site

If you are using Dronelink for business you should be on a professional plan. Growth includes the option you want.

Air3s which I can use waypoints on directly

Using onboard waypoints doesn't fix the underlying issue: GPS hardware inaccuracy.

Yes a construction site, but as a hobby. I've never been paid for flying my drone and not getting paid for this, just thought it would look really cool. If I was doing it as a paid job I would have bought the professional plan.

I understand GPS inaccuracy, but on the spec sheet thought it was a smaller margin.

For your information, here are the conditions under which I was able to achieve the most accurate drone positioning possible:

    • Fly in offline mode if the DJI Dronelink version is earlier than 5.2.3 (312)
    • Fly when there are no clouds, as they alter the propagation speed of signals from satellites.
    • Avoid winds exceeding 10 km/h. Wind shifts the drone’s position by a few meters without the GPS detecting it.
    • To give the drone time to respond, use approach speeds to the positioning point of 1 km/h horizontally and 1.5 m/s vertically. A checkpoint will be placed nearby (for example, 4 m horizontally and 20 m vertically) to reduce this approach time.

    Happy flying,
