Moving a plan to a new location

Julian Perry

Hi there,

I have built a plan for a comprehensive survey of an archeological site and would like to use the same plan with minor revisions, at a different location. I know how to copy the plan but can anyone tell me how to translocate it elsewhere? I was hoping I could select all the steps and paste them into a new plan started elsewhere but have not found that possibility yet.

Also, in the mobile app on my iPad, all the plans show in a long list and the various subfolders (repositories) do not show. Is that right?

The mobile app has a tab at the bottom for repositories.

Re moving the plan location, I assume I will need to move all 4 main elements separately? I was hoping to be able to group them together after first making a copy.

I will lookout for the repositories.

As I see it, if one is moving a plan say 20 miles then to do that you have to zoom out on the map and the markers then become very small. I note that one can import plans that have been shared on a public space so maybe there is some mileage there to export my own plan and then re-import it as part of creating a new one - although I haven't done that maneuver so far.

If I could make a feature suggestion - that one can import plans from one's own repositories or lists into new plans as part of the creating process?

You can see the problem here - the first part of the plan will not move as a whole anyway but leaves the take-off point where it was first placed.

The entire plan will be moved as long as you moved all components. Don’t need to zoom on map other then to place the reference pin where you want it to start which can be moved or adjusted.

“that one can import plans from one's own repositories or lists into new plans as part of the creating process?”

Not sure if this will help but, You can copy any component to the clipboard then place it in another plan.

You can copy plans, Create Repos, components list and much more. I suggest watching the DL tutorial videos and also search through the getting started link I’m sending  DL has a lot of features and functions which may take time to learn but there is a lot of information available to you. As always, this forum is available if you need additional help. Hope this helps. Enjoy…

True but if you try moving item '1' it drags the curved bit along but not the takeoff point nor point 6, the final destination, so you have to keep going back to drag up the rear. On top of that, if you go more than a few hundred feet up, about where my screen grab is at, then you can't differentiate the middle of each item to be able to click and drag it so it took me half an hour to move all the items about 6 miles - another 8 to go! It would be much easier if one can import one's own plans into a new plan that you start at the new location, or copy and paste items.

Sorry, not Not understanding your issue. I Think your trying to drag and move individual components, not moving the entire plan to a new location. The link Jim sent should work. Open the plan you want to move, Right click mouse or (press down on smart) device on map location where you want the reference pin, (purple start pin) and select move reference, then select move all components. It will move the entire plan to where you selected the location on the map.

Also you will need to create your own Repo’s (basically a folder) and place whichever plans you want into those Repos. Otherwise it will just list plans. You can move, copy, create components list, paste components and much more. Really suggest watching the DL tutorials videos. It will take time to watch them and may need to go through some a few times but DL has a ton features/ functions which takes time to learn. They really do have a lot of help available.

Thanks for that. I didn't understand the notion of Move as used here. I thought that was to move the item from one storage folder to another. I will try out the steps tomorrow. :)

You can move or copy a plan into any other Repo. You copy a component like a path or camera commands etc. to the clipboard from an existing plan then paste those into a new plan. Moving an entire plan to a different location is a completely different function. DL has so many functions and features it will take time. There are many on this Forum or official DL Facebook group who will be happy to help. Dronelink support is amazing with a lot of help links and tutorial videos to assist. Good luck and enjoy.

It worked a treat so that saves a huge amount of time when I need to replicate a survey pattern at a whole new location before making minor adjustments.

Some days ago I had looked through all the 'Getting Started' material and could find no info on this question and also some of the video tutorials hence I came to the forum. Doesn't mean it's not there but I couldn't see it.

At least now this issue will be searchable here for future use.

Good to hear it’s figured out. There is so much DL can do it takes time to learn everything. I’ve been using DL a lot for over a year now and still learning. Enjoy.
