Remote ID for DJI Mini 3 Pro using RC-N1 controller with Android mobile
I recently updated my Mavic 3 Cine to apply the Remote ID that is now a legal requirement in the UK and all went smoothly. But I don't use Dronelink with the Mavic but I do with my DJI Mini 3 Pro....and I'm a bit stuck.
I can't see any Dronelink menu options to add in my Remote ID, so I tried running DJI Fly using the same RC-N1 and mobile but DJI Fly wouldn't connect with the drone.
I also tried going back to the original smart controller (in-built screen) but I had the same problem - no connection.
Do I need to unbind the RC-N1 and re-bind the smart controller, hopefully set up the Remote ID using DJI Fly, then unbind the smart controller and bind the RC-N1....and will Dronelink need anything more from me and will the drone transmit the Remote ID even when controlled via Dronelink?
The next question is....is there an easier way?

The remote I’d should be working when the drone is powered on. Drone is what transmits the ID So there is no need to set it up in the DL app.
Mike,
That's what I expected but opening DJI Fly on the phone when the RC-N1 is powered on is not showing the area where the Remote ID is expected. Nothing other than the old standard display.
Hey Paul. Haven’t seen you in a while but hope you’re well. Not sure what you mean by not showing the remote ID area and just old standard display. Any drone which transmits remote ID does just that, it transmits the ID. There is nothing different with the Fly app, the map or any way to see what information being transmitted from the drone. The drones position on the map is the same based on the satellites so it will not look any different. You can check to see if the drones remote ID is working properly by clicking on the top of the Fly app after connecting. As long as it’s reporting the remote ID is functioning normally then it’s good to go.
Hi Mike,
All good here. I may be spending more time in the forum soon as I just started a new website just for drone pilots...but only in the UK. More later.
Hopefully this image grabbed from the DJI site will explain better....
I am guessing that because I unbound the original smart controller and then bound the RC-N1 controller (so I could use DL) that DJI FLy on the phone needs to be bound to something...but clearly I am struggling to work out what.

Paul, I suspect the reason it isn't showing for the mini 3 is because that isn't required on mini 3 till 2028
Martin,
Doh! Must have totally missed that!
Thanks, appreciated.

I didn’t realize you are not in the US. All good 👍🏼
Paul, with some of the uncertainty surrounding the new regs(even caa don't seem sure about some) 😂, it's hardly surprising
Thanks Martin and Mike; really appreciate the info.
On the earlier comment re a new website for UK drone pilots, I'm not sure what the rules are here. The new site is designed to put potential clients in touch with verified UAV pilots that hold CAA qualifications and Insurance (proof required)...in the UK.
At the moment I am focusing on getting pilots and operators to register before I make any 'client' marketing moves; which I will do once we hit 50 registered and approved pilots. At the moment we are around 30 approved pilots and I've had to reject about four cowboy pilots (no valid qualifications and/or no insurance). It's basically a directory but also a not-for-profit project.
I won't put the URL here until I know I am allowed to do so; and if I am I'll probably start a new thread in here.
