Virtual stick missions send commands in real-time as a human pilot would using the sticks on a remote control. While this approach does require a constant connection to the drone, it unlocks many features in Dronelink that are not possible with onboard waypoints, such as the advanced settings on Map, Facade, and Inspection components.
The virtual stick approach also unlocks automated missions for drones that do not support onboard waypoints, such as the Mavic Mini and Mavic Air 2.
Basically, DL is taking place of the pilot.
Not sure about the GPS question. The GPS in the drone works the same as when using the DJI app. Keeps it stable, gives its location on the map and can RTH based on the GPS home-point. Not sure if this is what you were asking.

The virtual stick code is the core, priorietary algorithm in the Dronelink kernel. Is there something specific you are asking about?
I am just wondering how a trajectory can be maintained without any feedback based on gps data in order to close the regulation loop.
It is like if the pilot only moves the sticks without watching at his drone.
I am just trying to understand the basic of the virtual stick concept.

It does not maintain a trajectory if GPS signal is lost, it disengages the mission immediately.
