Unable to take control of Drone error

Faultlessave

I have a mini 2 and I got an unlock for a DJI lock on their zone. Dronelink worked fine, I then requested a one-year unlock and received it from DJI now I can not fly any missions in the same zone that I could before. I get unable to take control of errors. This is really important to me because I am doing progression videos on a very important construction project.

Thank YOu,

I don't have a Mini but many DJI birds.  Did you turn off the unlock when  flying in an area outside of the unlock zone?  When you get a custom unlock, you have to turn it on when you are flying that that area,  but when you fly in another area, you must make sure you have that custom unlock turned OFF or you will not be able to fly.  Hope this helps.

I can fly just fine anywhere else with the DJI app or Dronelink. I don't have to turn anything on or off. I can fly in the area I got unlocked with the DJI fly app. I did however have to turn on the DJI app first and then turn it off and turn on the Dronelink app when I was able to fly in the same zone but with just a two-day unlock. I had the problem once I applied for and got the same unlock except for a year so I didn't have to do it every two days.

That's odd.  I almost always do custom unlocks (for extended time reason like you, or when it is zero AGL by airport).  But in all cases, when I go into the DJI app, I must turn on the Custom Unlock to fly there, and then when I leave and go fly somewhere else, I must also turn it back off to be able to fly anywhere else.  This is not the case when you do a "self unlock".  With a self unlock, you can leave them turned on and fly anywhere that is not geofenced.

The zone is in a blue zone and DJI is the only entity that put a lock on it.

It is in a self unlock zone that I had extended to a year.

Here is one link. Maybe something here will help. I’ve read about some pilots having issues and others have had no problems. I’m sure it’s frustrating.

If I have to I will just delete the long-term lock and go back to two-day self unlock. Too bad, Dronelink is the only app I have tried so far since the software was released, maybe I should not have bought the elite package so quickly?

I’d look at that link I gave and particularly read Barry’s comments. He indicates a way to load it onto the drone so you won’t need to continually request. I haven’t requested one in awhile so I don’t know how it will work for long term approvals. If any further help is needed I’m fairly sure Barry will try to assist. He is much better at this then I am. Hope this helps. Enjoy., Mike…….
