Android Device Advice (Mini Pro 4 - Mid 2025)

Ali

I'm sorry to create a new thread for this, but I was wondering if there is any updated advice on the android tablets that are recommended in mid-2025 for use with dronelink? I've seen sporadic threads and the spreadsheet of devices, but they all seem to be couple of years old. I have been using dronelink with my trusty 1st gen mavic mini and iphone for years. I just recently got a DJI Mini 4 Pro and so I need to figure out the confusing world of android devices!

I am excited to put the upgraded camera to use for mapping missions! This got me wondering if the obstacle avoidance features of Pro 4 still work within dronelink missions? I managed to avoid any crashes with my precious mini, but hoping this newer generation makes a bit easier to run more sophisticated missions.

Hi and welcome Ali, most modern mid to high range Android phones will run Dronelink ok, I have several devices that I use:

    1) the phone part of an old LG V50 (only use this occasionally as it can be pushing it at times due to its age)

    2) Samsung Galaxy Z Fold (have used a 2,4, and now I've got a 7 which I haven't actually flown with yet)

    3) Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G

    4) Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ 5G

The 2 Tabs are my normal devices of choice, as they both have nice 12.4" screens.

I can't comment on the obstacle avoidance part of your question as I fly a mini2, which i map with, and don't normally find a lot to bump into at 150 foot plus ;)

    Hope this helps

Hi Ali. The OA is controlled by the drones firmware not the DL app so it works the same regardless of which app you use. Once you set anything in the DJI Fly app they are stored in the drones firmware and those settings stick across apps. So if you enable the OA in the DJI Fly app to brake or avoidance, (fly around) it will work. I rarely enable the OA on my drone because it’s at altitude as Martin stated and there is nothing even close to it. Pilots preference. Enjoy.
