Mini 2, Mini SE, and Air 2S Support + Android 12
Hey everyone!
Happy to announce that the latest Android beta (build 183) now has support for the Mini 2, Mini SE, and Air 2S. Unfortunately, DJI has not released an update to the iOS SDK (nor have they given a timeline), so these drones are Android only right now. Also, the SDK has several bugs in the DJI SDK which prevent the following functionality:
- Velocity-based rotation for the gimbal (such as interpolating between two markers on a path with different gimbal pitches) on the Air 2S
- Airdata integration (DJI changed the flight log format again).
This build also corrects the issues users were having with Android 12 (if you still see issues with Android 12, please provide feedback).

That definitely the greatest news of the year.
Jim, realizing I am a bit late to the game. I have both the Mini 2 and the Air2S and would love to be a beta participant. I just saw the next article to do exactly that, I will be doing that. Thank you!!

👍🏼 That was quick. Great news for all those with Android devices. I’m only guessing but IOS probably takes a bit more for a reason.
Sadly, no iOS because DJI chose to only add these to the Android DJI SDK for now.
Jim, i downloaded the Beta Installation APK (64bit), but the Installation fails on my S21 Ultra (German) with Android 12 saying that it is in conflict with an existing package ... whatever that means...
If you installed it from Google Play originally, you need to uninstall it first before you can install the APK, or just wait for the Google Play version.
Great news Jim! Thanks so much! I was able to access the aircraft and will try my first mission in a few hours. I tried to create a map mission, but the Air 2s is not listed yet in the "camera" options. Are you planning to add it. I will try a custom setting for now. Congratulations for your great work. Happy new year!
We will add them eventually. If you have the specs, please post them.
I echo Sebastian's congratulations. It is fantastic that Dronelink is right there with a beta so soon after DJI finally coming up off the goods. Dronelink continues to deliver!
I just purchased a basic plan so I could test the beta on my Mavic Mini se and now I'm getting a message that I must purchase another plan for the mavic mini se? Doesn't the basic plan work like all others?
It may have corrected itself. I'll mess with it some more and see if it's working.
Thanks for the bug report. It should be corrected now.
Thanks! We would be grateful if you left a 5-star review in the App Store (iOS | Android)
I need to test the product first then I'll post a review.
I'll be testing Dronelink on my mavic mini se. I have a question about way points. will this drone have the capability to continue on with the waypoint mission if it loses signal (onboard waypoints?) or is it only a virtual joystick input type of command?
Apologies, my comment was directed at Tony Simek and Sebastian Sabate, but we would be grateful if you left a review as well!
No, DJI has not released a consumer drone that supports uploading waypoints since the Mavic 2 Pro, AFAIK. It appears that they have no intention of including this functionality on consumer drones going forward, but your guess is as good as mine.
I suspected as much, no problem. DJI seems to spend a lot of resources trying to electronically castrate their products in order to present a wider verity of options for purchase. I'm going to start looking into building one from Bangood parts lol.
Good luck with that. If it doesn't work out, I would recommend getting a DJI drone that has ocusync as it works much better with virtual stick.
I may experiment with improving the very limited wifi in the mini se. I have been a ham since the early 70's degree in electrical engineering. I can make it much better just with a couple of simple hardware mods. I'm not limited as far as power on either end on 5 ghz I can run a few watts if I can figure out how to power it long enough. The few watts needed to create a bigger signal is nothing compared to what the motors use in normal flight.
Wonderfull news. AI will test the new version with the Air 2S yhe day after tomorrow New Years first flight
I left a long overdue review on iTunes app store. Dronelink is the serious drone automation app and should be people's go-to for automation. The really amazing part to think about is how much capabilities and power Dronelink has brought to every supported drone, and now the Mini-SE. For a $ to capability comparison, it is unreal to think that somebody could pick up a Mini-SE <$400 and add dronelink and have so many features ready to fly.
I have been using Dronelink with my M2 Zoom, and now that I can use it with a Mini2 and Air2S...well, it's about to get crazy in here! : )
Thanks!
I just tested the beta release with my Mini 2 on Samsung S21 Ultra.
I tested "follow me" and "path".
Path was just PERFECT (I flew the drone pretty far away, I was under the impression the Mini2 was further away than the Mini1 ever allowed me), flight was very smooth and successful.
Follow me also worked, here I just had same obervations (as previously with my Mini1) that at startup the gimbal strangly was directed just down - not in the direction where I and the remote were. But after a restart, it worked.
Great work, Jim & team. I am very happy that the beta works just fine.
Good end of 21 and a good startup of 22 :-)
Happy new year, regards, Oli
Is it possible to add in Air 2S hybrid tracking ( optical and gps)? Also is it possible for tracking like Mavic 3(All angle left right front etc)?
I'm having an issue with the mavic mini se. the video signal is being reported as weak constantly regardless if one foot away or a thousand. DJI fly app reports normal.
samsung s10e
Aaron D Ramsdell I wondered how the Mini SE was going to fare. I bought one just to see how it compared to the other DJI drones and I found that at least in my neighborhood that the range and video transmission was horrific. Not saying it is a bad drone, but I think my area has so much wifi congestion that it made the SE experience not so hot.
My opinion (happy to be corrected) is that Dronelink is best suited for Occusync 2 or 3 type drones due to more robust transmission standards. You mentioned the DJI fly app reports normal connectivity, and I would see the same with mind, even when getting choppy and pixelated video during flight.
Maybe others will have some ideas for you that get around this limitation. Way before Dronelink beta support for the SE I got frustrated with the SE and used it as a gift to a young gent wanting to get into the hobby who can deal with the range limitation.
I have no issues about short range I fully expect that, I do however have an issue with the thing saying the signal is weak while I can be touching the drone with the controller antennas out in the middle of the antarctic with the next nearest wifi signal a thousand miles away.
I really do think somethings broken in the beta is all.

Could very well be. Yes of course. The joy of beta participation! : )
I was mainly hoping that https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/profiles/381085491733-Jim-McAndrew would see the post.
