Account grey screen

Bob Scheffler

I had not used Dronelink for about a week and when I opened it up 2 days ago I received a brief message saying I "Dronelink kernel missing.  When I clicked on the app icon I get this.

If I click on my name I get a gray screen with nothing.

I then use my phone's back button to get back to the screen with my name and I click on the hamburger button (only 2 choices) and I get this screen.

If I click on the "Web App" button I get this screen.

This is not how the app worked one week ago.  I was trying to use the follow mode but I can't even find it.

The first thing I’d try is delete the App and reinstall it to the latest version. If it doesn’t work then I’m sure Jim will help you.

The follow mode is in the Naive flight app under the lighting bolt icon.

    Good luck. Mike…..

I already did that. Jim requested that I submit the screen shots

If you look at my last screen shot you can see that there's no lightning bolt. I know that's how I accessed follow last week but the whole program is different now. I don't know what happened, all I can say is when I opened the app 2 days ago I received the error message "Dronelink missing a kernel ". I uninstalled the app for the 2nd time and reinstalled it. No luck.

Can you try logging out and then logging back in?

I have done that several times, mostly because the app logged me out itself. I will initiating it myself.

I tried logging out and back in manually (not using my Google automatic) . Same issue. It says it is "2.4.0 (155) Version 2.4.0" Is this correct?

I Understand it wasn’t showing in app based on your screenshot. It was Just info for you. The other screenshot is the web app which is available within the Native Flight App now.

Do you have the both the Regular Native app from App Store and the Beta App downloaded at the same time. Just a thought. I know it can cause issues. If not then Jim will need to figure it out for you. I’ve never had this issue using with my iPad. Hope it gets worked out soon for you.

    Good luck. Mike….

"VG1" sent me 2 links to the Beta and the full versions as well as pages of the changes in the new version. I was signed up as a Beta version tester since they came out with the follow and other modes. I used to submit many test results buten my Mavic mini developed some problems and was out of commission for a while and I stopped submitting test results. Is it possible that I have been removed from some beta testing list? No matter what version I install it looks the same.

Beta’s are just not the Production Native flight app which is available in the store. Basically the Beta versions are the same app with some newer features to test before it’s full release in the App Store. The Native app has been changed fairly recently to add the web app within the Native app. You can still use the Web app using a regular Web browser too. It just added the availability with the Native flight app. The newest Production version came out a day ago in the App Store for IOS, not sure about Android. Version 2.4.0 is the newest.

if your using the IOS TestFlight for the Beta’s it will indicate if you are not setup. I’d make sure you have either the Regular Production Native version app from App Store or, the Beta version installed but, Not both installed at same time. If both are installed I’d log out of both, then delete both and reinstall just the Production App version.

Don’t need to delete the TestFlight App, just the Beta test app. You can test newer Beta versions when they come out but need to always delete the Production app before installing. Never both installed at same time. At least that’s what I’ve been told. Pick one or the other. I’ve gone back and forth many times when testing newer Beta versions. It’s a lot to digest but I hope this helps.

    Good luck. Mike…..

I have only the Dronelink Beta version installed, unless it is under a different name other than Dronelink.

Can you try it on a different mobile device? If that doesn't work, email your username / password to support@dronelink.com so we can try to reproduce it.

Same thing happening to me with the grey screen.  Three iPads (two mini 4 and a mini 5) and two android phones were tested.  Only worked on a OnePlus 7t android phone.

Worked fine a few weeks ago.

Just adding, I can sometimes see the flight plans for a split second before the screen goes grey.

Also, iPad is on 2.4.0 (155) | 2.4.0 .  Android that is working is on 2.3.1(152) | 2.3.0  Play store wants to update dronelink.  Was there an update for iPad recently?

You can always see the release dates with release notes here.

Again, please email your credentials to support@dronelink.com so we can attempt to isolate the issue. It does not happen with our test accounts so I am guess it is something specific in your accounts.

Jim I sent that information on to you.  My wife has an i phone, which is even older than my phone, do you think it would even work.

I updated Dronelink on my OnePlus 7T, and it now has the same grey screen issue.  I have sent my account info to support.

    Thanks

So I installed testflight and loaded previous versions of Dronelink (I noticed the latest beta is the same version as the app store 155).  Anything before version 155 works fine if you downgrade from the testflight app.

I have ver. 155 so maybe that is the problem.  How do I get the previous version?

In the test flight app.  Select drone link, and under app information you should see the headings: app details, automatic updates, push notifications, email notifications, and then previous builds.

Select previous builds you will see all previous versions.  They have a time limit on how long they will work, so the older you go, the less time it will work I assume.  Just find any version you want and hit the installation button.

If you can't find what I am talking about, let me know, and I'll send some screenshots.

I am sorry Bob, my mistake.  I thought you were on iOS because you had mentioned you were on the beta.  As far as I know there is no android TestFlight app.

How'd you get the beta files for android?

I signed up over a year ago for testing follow mode, focus mode and 2 or 3 other experimental modes.  I was out of commission for a while due to several reasons, my drone broke and I had to get a new one and I was in and out of the hospital with COVID.  I finally got back to trying to test the various modes.  I was going to do a follow mode test with elevation adjustment when I could not find it on the program.  It used to be a lightening bolt icon you clicked on and you would have access to the Beta modes.  I rank 8th in flight time and probably would have been higher if not for my down time.  The program still says I have the Beta version but it looks totally different than what I remember when last I used it.  Jim, I hope, is working on the problem.

I found a link on the Dronelink forum for the apk for beta Dronelink for android.  I tried it out but unfortunately it is for version 155.  If you don't have access to an apple product you will have to wait on Jim.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

This will be fixed in the next beta build (156).

So it was not something I did, or did not do? That's kinda relief, I thought I was experiencing COVID-19 brain loss. How will know when the next build is out?

Is there a work-around until that happens?  Some way to execute in the field?
    Thanx!

If you have or are using an iOS device, yes you can use a workaround.  If you are using an android device unfortunately I didn't find one.

In the testflight app if you are using iOS (which is what you use to load the beta versions)  You can downgrade to a previous version.  Every version of the beta I tried worked, other than the latest.

    https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360053000733-How-do-join-the-Dronelink-beta-

That is the link to the instructions on how to install testflight and load beta versions of Dronelink on an iOS device.

    Good luck,
