Mini 3 Pro & Panorama Error (Something about "VLTAGE"

Don Wright Jr

New to dronelink only here for mini 3 pro - so far, so good.
500+ photogrammetry missions with my fleet of Phantom 4 pros using dronedeploy -

So far I'm liking what I'm seeing, BUT every time I've attempted to take a panorama at my map locations I get a long delay followed by an error "Unable to execute . . . . high vltage"

I've searched very thoroughly and can't find any information on this - using RC-N1 and android tablet -

The web-mission planner only shows the following:

Camera Start Capture Failed: • Please try again by tapping the play button. • If it happens a second time, try restarting the drone. • If it keeps happening, you may need to reorder/remove this component or make it not required. Camera Start Capture | Command timeout

Hi Don. I’ll try to help. Just to make sure I’d first check using the DJI Fly app to see if there are any errors reported and it’s not a drone or battery issue. If no errors reported when using the Fly app then it could be a few things. The DJI SDK sometimes sends false errors so it may have nothing to do with the battery but have you tried another battery to rule out the possibility of a bad cell or something. Usually a start capture error is due to the camera not being properly set. Did you set the camera up with Auto Exposure in the DJI Fly app first. It will not work if set to manual exposure. Is the camera set to single photo, not intervals, AEB Etc. Do you have a camera reset list added in the plan and if so make sure you have not added IOS or Shutter Speed since that is controlled with Auto Exposure. If you still can’t get it to work then you can share the plan and someone can look at it to see if there is something else causing the issue.

    Greatly appreciate your response!

I have 6 batteries and it does this with all of them - yet pano mode in DJI fly works great - honestly half the reason I signed up for Dronelink was to faciliate my large jobs which are nothing more than panos at fixed locations for properties for sale - (LAND PROPERTIES)

I haven't done any correlations between DJI fly settings vs Dronelinnk - as I've been setting my shutter/iso etc in the dronelink app - without thinking anything about dji fly settings (I keep it off completely when dronelink is running)

Ok Don. Whether you set the camera in the Fly app or DL it needs to set to auto exposure for the Pano. Did you check to make sure it’s in manual exposure. Also some camera settings can only be set in the Fly app due to the settings limitations. Some drones have ability to set the ISO and Shutter exposure separately to Auto or Manual. If it does then both will need to be set to auto. Other than that I have nothing else to try in my bag of tricks.

As far as the battery errors, since the same error pops up with a 6 batteries I’m confident they are false errors as I mentioned. Easy to check by using the DJI Fly app and if no errors then they are false errors being reported by the DJI SDK. All the DL app does is report those errors. The DL mobile app has the ability to temporally or permanently hide them. There have been many false errors over the years so DL added that ability to hide them a long time ago. Easy to do.

Still no luck shooting even a SINGLE Manual flight panorama- all firmware up to date - but I misidentified the error previously - it's actually

    Unable to execute . . . . VLTAGE_ALRM

All 6 batteries, beginning or end of flight, prior to or after a successful mapping mission

If it makes a difference, I also have yet to fly a successful PHOTO mission - - only video.

RC Pro Mini 3 Pro Beta test flights - More Observations – Dronelink
Seems similar to his errors here -

    • the selection of the pano option in the photos menu caused an error that completely froze the Mini 3 Pro. It became completely unresponsive to stick commands although I could change from photo to video by tapping the screen but still the drone was completely unresponsive. The only way to get control back was to switch the mode switch on the controller from N to S. Once I did that I had control back. Getting control back is documented somewhere on this site. I am not sure how to do a screen shot on the RC Pro controller but the error that appeared on the screen was something to the effect of "Cannot stop task - voltage alarm". It appeared briefly and every time I tapped the pano button.

The Incorrect aperture when using third party apps this has been going on for several years with some model drones due to the DJI SDK. So it will still be using the F1.7 and won’t affect the DL app missions. There’s not much DL can do. As I mentioned in my previous post about errors, if no errors are being reported when connected with the DJI Fly app then they are False errors and can be hidden in the DL mobile app. See my link above on how to hide them.

Hi Don. I know you said you don’t use the Fly app to set the camera but as I explained earlier some things will need to be set in there. To make sure it’s set correctly I’d check in the Fly app and make sure you have camera set to “single photo” and the Exposure set to Auto on both ISO & Shutter. There can be no manual exposure settings. All settings are stored in the drones firmware so they stick across apps. So there will be no need to set or change anything in the DL mobile app. This has been one of the biggest issue I’ve seen from pilots when using the DL Pano. If any Manual ISO or Shutter speed is set it will fail and more then likely indicate the “Camera Start Capture Failed” error.

If you don’t want to use Fly app to set the camera then the other option is to create a component list and add four camera commands. Then add the component to the plan and move it to the very top of the mission card so the camera is the first thing set before the start of the mission.

    Camera Stop Capture
    Camera Mode - Photo
    Camera Photo Type - Single
    Camera Exposure - Auto

I don’t have the Mini 3 Pro so I have no way to test the Pano. It works with my MA2 but it’s a different SDK. Maybe a DJI staff member can check to see if any issue with their Mini 3 Pro but I’m guessing it’s in the camera set up.

ive since uninstalled and reinstalled dronelink and confirmed using DJI windows software that mini 3 pro + controller are using latest firmwares - going to try again today.  I'm so bummed because unfortunately the primary reason i signed up was for multi pano missions - i'm wondering if it could be that I use DJI FLY mostly on my IPHONE - but of course this situation = android tablet - I've not considered modifying my dji fly settiings on IPHONE since it's not involved - i've only addressed the android tablet DJI FLY settings . .

No i'm happy to - i've just exhausted all possible settings that might resemble MANUAL - I use the fly app all the time to fly the drone-

And as a coder, i'm not bothered by any of these "ghost" errors - I only shared in hopes it may shed light as to my situation .. . . i'm imprressed with what you guys do!

Am I to assume that many mini 3 pro users are successfully using photo missions + Panorama modes? That's my main question as whether I'm a ONE OFF problem or if it's affecting other users.

Are we talking about the DJI pano mode, or Dronelink's pano component?

THAT turns out to be the CRUX of this whole scenario  - this entire time, I've been choosing PANO mode from the photo/video shutter selector spot - i did finally take 20+ photos successfully yesterday as well as a photo mode map - although the pano took what seemed like 3 min to complete shooting - so that's progress!

All I can imagine from here is that my 4GB brand new android tablet running android 13 might be underpowered which is why am having a bad experience - going to try from another device before giving up. As a nerd, I've already turned off ALL features not critical to the task and removed all voice and memory/resource using elements which may have helped a little bit -

Yes, you need to create a Pano component which sounds like you figured it out. The 3 minutes is correct and it should be capturing 27 photos. All plans use components whether a map, photo, path, Orbit etc. So anytime you want to run any type of mission you need to create a plan and add a component. Which specific device are you using ?
