Help choosing a drone compatible with Dronelink for GPS-based waypoint missions

Grok Grok

Dronelink!

My opinion is either the older Mavic 3E or even newer Matrice 4E. If you check the link you will see both of these drones are supported and if you click on learn more it will give more additional info.

Thank you for your response and for suggesting the Mavic 3E and Matrice 4E. I’ve reviewed the supported devices list, and I appreciate the detailed resource.

However, I’d like to kindly follow up on a few important points that weren’t fully addressed in your previous reply:

    1. GPS Coordinate Input
Does Dronelink support direct input of waypoints using latitude and longitude (without manual placement on the map)? My primary use case involves flying in remote forest areas, where precise GPS-based navigation is essential.

    2. Controller Requirements
Are there any specific controller models required to ensure full compatibility with Dronelink, particularly for the Mavic 3E and Matrice 4E? Can I use a standard DJI controller or an Android-based RC?

The controllers which are supported for each drone are indicated in each respected section. Check again and I’m sure you will see which controllers work. DL staff or another pilot will need to answer if there is any way to set up a mission possibly using code or script but I don’t know if it’s possible without some sort of basic plan already created.

DL does have the “On the Fly” modes and missions where you fly the drone manually to set up the mission. So you could fly to each coordinate location and mark those and once it’s all set up you can save it and then run the mission. Once saved you can make any changes to it and run it over and over. That may be a way to get the desired results you want.

I suggest spending some time going through many of the DL support articles and even tutorial videos. There is a lot of helpful information and it will take some time to learn all of the functions/ features the app has. A professional Growth account does have direct Email support as well. https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001874574-General

    Hi Mike,

Thank you again for your detailed replies.

I’ve reviewed the documentation you shared and confirmed that Dronelink supports importing KML files — that’s helpful.

However, what I specifically need to clarify is this:

👉 Can I enter GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) for waypoints directly inside the Dronelink web or mobile interface, without uploading a KML file?

In my workflow, I often receive precise coordinates for each location, and it would be ideal to input them manually in the app without needing to generate external KML files every time.

Looking forward to your clarification on this.

    Best regards,
    Dima

Also, before I commit to using or purchasing your solution, I need to be sure that it fits my specific workflow and requirements — especially regarding precise GPS-based waypoint input. This is critical for my operations in remote environments.

I don’t work for DL, I’m just a Hobbyist Pilot which has used their app for over 4 years.

The mission planner supports GPS coordinates, but if you are in a remote area without network, it won’t work.
