Installing on Mini4 pro controller

Carl Mumford

I have the DJI Mini4 pro and I can't work out how to install DroneLink in to the controller.  I have been able to browse to the dronelink.com/download page (via a very contorted route that involved the tutorial section on the controller and YouTube.  However, when I get to the installer page I can't select the dropdown.  Please help!

Thank you,

Carl

The only controller which is supported by DJI at this point is the RC-N2. So you will need to use that with an Android OS device.

Thank you for the info.  This wasn't clear when I purchased the software.  I only saw reference to the Mini 4 Pro working and the Mini 4 not working.  I have the RC-2 controller.  Do we know when this support will be added?  I'm really disappointed that it isn't currently.

    Thanks

    Carl

I tried yesterday but this forum is stopping a lot of post from going through with links to DL help articles. Go to the DL support section and you will find a ton of info. The RC & RC2 controllers will never work because DJI design them to not allow third party software.

Thanks, Mike.  As I said, disappointed with this.  I really want to be able to create repeatable flight paths for video and photographs and run them on the drone.  Do you know of any other options, please?

    Thanks

    Carl

Unfortunately No. it was a DJI decision for whatever reason to not make them capable to be used with any third party app. You can buy a RC-N2 controller for about $100 if you look around on eBay or elsewhere. Then you can use any Android OS phone or tablet. Unfortunately there is no way around it.

If you have a Hobbyist Elite plan or any professional plan you can use the new KMZ export feature and transfer it to the DJI Fly app and run them. It takes a bit to learn on how to place it into the DJI Fly app “waypoints folder” on the device but it will work. They won’t be exactly a one to one but you can use it this way.

Can’t send a link again but if you go to the DL support articles you can find the instructions on how to do it. Go to the Mission Planner/ Web App section. Then go down to the Onboard DJI Waypoints - Convert and Export. Hope that helps.

Thank you.  The package I have doesn't include the KMZ exports, unfortunately.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Thanks again for your reply.  It doesn't seem that what I have will be supported at all.  Disappointing that it wasn't clear during my initial enquiries with DroneLink.

It does indicate which drones and controllers are supported in the very first DL FAQ in their support articles so you may have just missed it. Anyway, all Hobbyist plans are a one time fee. You can upgraded whichever Hobbyist plan you purchased and you only pay the difference. So I’m assuming you purchase the Premium plan at $60 to do basic mapping so all you would need to pay is the difference between the Premium and Elite plan of $60 more. You can then utilize the KMZ export feature and run missions with that controller in the DJI Fly app, just not use it to run DL missions. I believe the DL app is the best third party app to run automated missions compared to any other app for these consumer drones and I’ve been using DL for well over 4 years. Good luck.

If you don’t want to utilize the DL app then you can request a refund but no other app will work as well.
