Problem starting mission with Mini 3 drone
When starting the mission, the mini 3 drone displays the following message: "Camera photo type failed. Single camera photo type needs request again". I have already changed all possible settings, updated all applications, drone and radio.
Can anyone help me?

Sounds like an improper camera action. Only camera functions which will work are what the firmware allows. What type plan are you running and can you share your mission.
I'm having the same issue - picked up a new Mini 3 and am attempting to run a mapping mission and receive the following error as soon as the drone attempts to execute the first camera command:
I'm on a premium plan and the mission settings are as follows:
Taking photos manually during the mission seems to work fine however. Any help would be appreciated!
Matt A. It may be due to the mode switch in Tripod/Cine mode. It must be in Normal, “P” position to run a DL mission. Change it and try again then advise of it works or not.

Thanks Mike - ran it again in normal mode but am still receiving the same error message.
I've already changed all the settings, both on the drone and in the flight plan, and the same message remains.Have you set the camera correctly before starting the mission either in the DJI Fly app or DL app to photo single capture. Example, you can’t set it to 48mp, AEB or other photo mode, only single capture. If you are using a camera list in the plan can you share the plan ?
I have the same issue with my samsung tab s6lite where i installed the 5.1.0 version.
With my S24 ultra where I still have the old version 5.0.3 I don't encounter this problem. Is it safe to use the old version? When will the problem be solved? Thanks

Same problem here
Can any expert or someone from Dronelink let us know when a fix will be released for this problem? I imagine we are all subscribers who at this moment cannot use the program as we would like. Thanks in advance
Been terrible issue for me, Federico puoi confermarmi che con la 5.0.3 funziona tutto nella norma? Faccio un downgrade in caso
On the device where I have version 5.0.3 it works fine. Initially I thought it was a problem with the tablet where I have version 5.1.0.
Thanks Mike, hadn't realised the DJI app was set to AEB, changing the setting in that app to single shot resolved the issue. Many thanks!
Matt A. Sometimes it’s the simple things. Enjoy.
Matt A, I was having the same problem and thanks to Mike's advice and your feedback here, I resolved the issue.
When I opened the DJI Fly App, I saw that the drone was left in the 48 megapixel mode. So, I set it back to regular single capture mode. Then, after closing the DJI Fly App, powering mini 3 and RC-N1 off, restarting drone and controller and opening the Dronelink app, I started my grid pattern mission and it ran to completion, taking all my pictures automatically as desired. No more NEED_REQUEST_AGAIN error popping up.
Cheers.
Hey Shared Sketchup. Good to hear. Most don’t realize when they set the camera in the DJI app those as well as others that the settings stick across apps. I always use a camera list to set the camera whether for photos or video and place it at the top of the mission card. This way it will be the first command at start of mission to set it correctly. Creating a component list is very simple in the Web app and completely reusable and editable at any time. Enjoy.
Hi, despite following your instructions the problem persists.
from the dji fly application set single shot, after I enter in dronelink app and I find the set. When I switch to video it run, when I try to switch back to photos I get this error and the mode does not change
Dronelink can’t fix something if they cannot reproduce it. Only a couple pilots with this issue which means it sounds like something else. If the camera is set up correctly I’d guess it’s a combination of the drone, hardware, firmware, specific Android OS device incompatibility. If you want to use an older DL version which works that’s your choice. DL never recommends using a previous/ older version and would rather find out what the issue is to fix it but doesn’t sound like it’s an app Issue. A ton of pilots using the Mini 3’s without any issue. Good luck.
New user of Dronelink and so far this issue has been a huge waste of time.
Mini3, DJI RC-N1, Samsung Z Fold 5, and Basic plan.
In manual flight it shows the "NEED_REQUEST_AGAIN" message about 99% of the time when trying to switch camera modes, and sometimes "SYSTEM_ERROR". This happens regardless of distance between drone and controller.
When I set "single" or "video" in DJI Fly first, Dronelink then will successfully start in that mode, but switching away to another mode causes issues to start.
For some reason, changing back to "single" from any other mode almost never works. However changing to "interval" works more often, but on a 5 second delay. Switching from "interval" to "panorama" will cause rapid oscillating between those two modes on the menu display, while the video feed aspect ratio constantly swaps accordingly for several seconds and usually ends up back on "interval".
I'm trying to do extremely simple mission plans like a simple orbit with video, but even starting in video mode I will randomly get errors, such as "Camera Stop Capture Failed | Command timeout" at the end of an orbit.
I’ll try to help but not sure about the errors or problems when manually using the app. You may need to screen recorded when using the app while trying to switch between modes so the DL staff can see what is happening. If you can share one of the plans like the Orbit, Pano or any other you have issues with someone can take a look at those to see maybe why.
I’m seeing this same issue on my Mini 3 with Dronelink on Android: I can switch into Single mode in DJI Fly (and it carries over into DL), but I can’t ever trigger a mode change to Single during a mission—it just fails with the NEED_REQUEST_AGAIN error. This only started happening in the last month or so; everything worked flawlessly before.
Has anyone found a way to force Dronelink to actually switch into Single capture mid-mission?
And is there a way to download and install Dronelink version 5.0.3 so I can test if that fixes it?
Edit: In DL I'm able to change to any other mode than "Single".
Hi, i try to download and install the 5.0.3 but it didn't work.
What is DL?
Thanks

Can you guys report if you are also on Samsung devices and what model?
Maybe this could help narrow down the necessary conditions for reproducibility.
Hi, samsung s25 ultra DL version 5.0.3 no issue.
Samsung galaxy tab s6 lite 2022 DL version 5.1.0 issue as reported by other people.
Thanks!
Thanks Federico Bonucchi.
My problem is with Z-Fold 5 (DL version 5.1.0), so I'm also wondering if delayed API functions could somehow be related to an uncommon display aspect ratio, or other differences in Android for these devices .
I guess first I will try reverting to DL v5.0.3 and see what happens.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite here as well.
Where can I download DL v5.0.3?
I tested DL v5.0.2 (build 301) | Kernel 5.0.0 and the error no longer occurs - I was able to locate DL v5.0.2 in the tablet’s Downloads folder.
To confirm that the problem is specific to v5.1.0, I’ve reinstalled both the older and newer versions several times. Each time, the error consistently reappears on v5.1.0 but not on v5.0.2.
Jim McAndrew, any ideas? Let me know if there is anything else I should try.
Ok to stick with v5.0.2 for now?
DJI Mini 3 | Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
The only significant difference between 5.0.3 and 5.1.0 is the later version uses DJI SDK 5.13.0 - upgraded from 5.12.0. You can use an older version until we mark the upgrade as required, and we don't support older versions.
What firmware is your drone on? We are not currently able to reproduce this issue on any version of Dronelink, but we can check with DJI to see if they know of an issue.
Finally returning to this topic, but all issues for me occurred on the latest device firmware.
Mini 3: 01.00.0500
RC-N1: 04.16.0500
Just for info, the "NEED_REQUEST_AGAIN" problem has disappeared after updating to Dronelink 5.2.0 Android apk, allowing use of single photo mode.
Looks like maybe DJI SDK 5.14 is used now, based on what I see in the Dronelink Github repo?
I still get an "UNDEFINE_ERROR" message in Dronelink 5.2.0 when trying to initiate panoramas in flight with the Mini 3.
I have no direct evidence that these issues are directly related though.
Hi Col_07. Regarding the issue when using the Panorama component. The Panorama component has EV values as well as others embedded in it so when pitching up or down the exposures is correct. Otherwise the photos would be either way under or over exposed. The exposure needs to be set to auto for it to work. If you look at the DL shared public 360 photo component which is similar but is editable you will see it sets the camera to auto exposure as well. I tried several years ago when they added the Panorama and I could never get it to work when setting my camera exposure to manual. Auto always works and even when using the DJI Fly app’s Pano’s, they are set up the same. It may not be the problem you’re having but if you are setting the exposure to manual you may try changing it to auto and see if it works. Good luck. Enjoy.
