Circle Photogrammetry Maps
Hey Dronelink community.
I just wanted to reach out to inquire about new features for mapping. I was wondering if anybody had heard about circle photogrammetry missions and if they would start being added into Dronelink. These types of missions have been known to provide BETTER results than traditional photogrammetry and mapping. Often times for normal mapping missions, trees get stuck to a facade or little errors can happen in tracking. This new photogrammetry method has the drone take photos in circle patterns throughout the entire mapping area. This capture method allows for better facade detection and more accurate base mapping function. I love using Dronelink and I hope that the app can get updated to include new and exciting features for our flying missions.
Sincerely,
SFM - Brian

Can you provide an example of the flight pattern?
Typically people just use a grid with an orbit to solve these types of use cases.
Hey there Jim,
This is an example of one of the new photogrammetry patterns that has been popping up in about the last six months. Apparently it provides extremely accurate results for 3d and maps with corners and edges. It also apparently can take less time for the flights somehow.
Hope you are having a nice day.

Thanks for the info. We will keep an eye on it but currently we are focused on other priorities.
No worries Jim,
Do you have any updates on any exciting new features you guys are trying to bring to the app?
Also, on my Mavic Air 2 when I do circle orbits with a focus points, this specific drone does not do them smooth. I can do waypoint missions with a focal point usually fairly smooth, but for some reason whenever I did a strict orbit in the past it was a bit wonky. I was actually going to possibly go out today and test out a few more things to see how I could better plan for some flights.
This is our focus right now: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/15947273635091-Download-DJI-Waypoints-in-KMZ

SolidFlight Media. I have the MA2 and the only way you will get smooth Orbits is to slow down the speed at maybe 7 mph max or slower and do not run them in any wind of more then actual measured 5 mph or so wind speed. I’ve been using DL for over 4 years now and I have gotten smooth Orbits but they can’t be run in any winds at 10 to 15 mph gust. Also the smaller and tighter they are the harder it is. My MM is near impossible to get smooth Orbits due to the light weight and size. Hope that helps. Enjoy.
