smoother ?
ok so just flown 2 missions both completed just fine and included interval photos and video.
is there any way to smooth out the motion of the drone ,it looks jerky in places ,mavic air 2 ,no wind and flown at 5mph max ,orbit was not smooth and when the drone is repositioning its very unnatural looking, normally the MA2 is as smooth as butter .is there anything else i need to do to smooth out the motion.otherwise getting on ok .

I did a second test after compass calibration, it seems better but not yet fluid:

Thank you skip med,
It looked much better, I don't think you will get it much better than that.
It been like that since at least the p4.
The drone uses the compass when turning, and the gimbal just follows, that's why. You will never get a complete smooth compas calibration. That's why the gimbal fuses the imu and compass in other modes.
Great, you kind of showed that my teori holds up :-)
Thank you Mats, I understand now how it works
Perhaps it was useful to insert some "absolute movements", and not relative to some points or direction, for example an absolute rotation movement around initial heading of the gimbal, to have a fluid movement while recording
It might help, I think it will be hard though.
The solution is to use free gimbal mode. It needs to be hacked though. I'm working on an app that is super smooth flying.
I feel like this thread just keeps talking in circles. The conclusion is always the same (need to hack DJI’s gimbal free mode) but everyone has to come to this on their own for some reason :(
I would agree with Jim... the dog chasing its tail.
This is a DJI issue. I for one have zero time to play/hack.
It is what it is until DJI (If) addresses it.
"we have actually spent countless hours looking into this issue and tweaking it, and we have even done surveys where we put footage from Dronelink side-by-side with competing apps (that people claim are smoother), and ask them to identify which one is Dronelink, and they are unable to consistently choose the correct video (sometimes they think Dronelink is smoother, other times the other apps)."
Gracefully disagree on the above. Here is a youtube video uploaded by a disappointed DL user. The video is framed side by side of DroneLink and Litchi orbit at the same location, same time. As you can see, the litchi orbit is perfect while DL struggles to make it.
Orbit Comparison for Drone Apps

a little background in case anyone wanted to know. I purchased droneLink more than two years ago for use in DJI Mavic Mini. While the waypoint worked good in most conditions, the orbit was always clumsy. I had reported this to droneLink but I was told that that could be an issue with a low performing phone. I was using an iPhone 6s that time so I thought it could be true but later I tried with a brand new Samsung Galaxy and now with my iPhone 13 pro with same result. With last 2 years experience I learnt it has nothing to do with the mobile device I use or the wind speed . It is the droneLink app itself. DJI quickshot I take from the same scene at the same time under same wind condition is always buttery smooth. The only issue is quickshot is too quick and short. I need control over speed, time and radius. So I recently upgraded to droneLink premium as DL advertised the premium version offers some advanced orbit features and hoped it would fix the issue but it didn’t.
There can be many different reason for that. I’ve had great experience with Orbits over the last two years. Way too many factors to consider. I can just as easily send one of my Orbits with MA2 which is really smooth. As stated in the post, DL has used both DL and Litchi with same plan and asked pilots to pick the best one. Sometimes it’s DL, sometimes it’s Litchi. This just keeps going round and round and round. The Drone, device, environmental conditions or a combination of all of them can make a huge difference. Good luck.

My previous comments still stand, and DL will not be officially replying to comments about this issue anymore.
Feel free to submit a refund request.
Also any Mini will more then likely never be smooth. I own a MM and MA2 and the difference is huge. I’ve never got a perfectly smooth orbit even at lower speed of about 5 mph with my MM. Moving on………
That's unequivocally false. I have mini 2 and A2S, and I get great mini2 smooth video with the native controls.... moving on.
