Looking for Android Tablet Recommendation
After several failed attempts to get my CrystalSky working with Dronelink, I've given up.
Moving forward, It would appear that a new (or possibly nearly new) Android tablet may be within my client's budget. Besides at least being able to run Android 5.0 Lollipop, are there any specific make/model recommendations from users? Is there any Android tablets that are the 'Best in Class'? Have any specific Android tablets been tested (and blessed) by Dronelink?
Thanks in advance.

Try to buy something with a processor that was released within the last 2 years.
Thanks for the tip. Can you offer any specific recommendations?
Cheers,
Rob
Any of the most recent Galaxy Tab tablets.
Thanks Jim.
Can anyone offer a specific recommendation? As in: "I use a xxxx tablet and have never had a mission fail for performance reasons"
I am looking for an Android tablet in 8in form factor to replace my Galaxy Tab A which is apparently not fast enough.
If you read this Jim; Does Dronelink benefit from multiple cores? How many threads are running when Dronelink is executing?
How much memory is enough?
I use a Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G
All,
I am looking for a bright but inexpensive tablet. What are the other recommended features to get in a tablet to run Dronelink efficiently without crashes or freeze ups? I'll start with:
At least 500 Nits of brightness
Onboard GPS ?
?? Gig Ram
?? Gig Storage ??
others?
Daniel Snyder, I'm still using the same 7 FE as above
OK good to know.. I guess I am looking to avoid the "Low Performance Device" warning when using too privative an Android device. So the question (to Jim?) might be what are the minimum specs required to run DL on an Android tablet.
There isn't really a spec. We generated the list of low performance devices by logging which devices gave that error most often, and it is included in the spreadsheet.
Thanks Jim, Also I see there is a "Low performance device" warning that pops up. for certain tablets. Here is one for my tablet. What criteria spec triggers this message? So Dronelink is looking up a device spec and making a determination the device is "Low performance". What is it looking at to make this determination?
From that we can determine minimum recommended specs.
We had several years of data from the flight controller attempting to run at 10hz, and when it can’t keep that frequency for a certain period of time, it disengages the mission with a Device Running Too Slow message. We took the list of devices that got this disengagement message, and sorted it by most descending and took the top 100 devices and made a black list.
Thanks Jim,
1) So the 100 devices on the blacklist produce the popup from a lookup function? My device in a Kindle Fire 10 tablet (with conversion to Android OS). 2) Is that on the list or it the list interreting that as a blacklisted item? I can't find the List of supported tablets - 3) So do you have an up-to-date listing somewhere? Thanks, Daniel.
The list is linked here: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/19598178527123-Can-we-start-a-list-of-Compatible-Android-Devices
Update - So I went and purchased a Samsung Tab A9+. It turns out it does not run the DJI fly app. But it does pass the Dronelink "Confetti" test.
So I called DJI Support. They just told me they don't recommend any tablets - just phones!, Who knew?
Pity finding an acceptable tablet is going to be all trial and error.
Yeah, I can't run the latest version of DJI fly on my galaxy Tab 7 FE & had problems with it on my Fold Z4
Thanks Martin, So at one time the Tab 7 FE ran the DJI Fly App, but now it doesn't? Was it an Android or a DJI release that caused it to stop working? Seems like the DJI update was the problem. How long ago did it happen?
Here's my post about it on the DJI forum Dan, it started after a DJI update
