Waypoints - 500m distance limit from home DJI (especially Mini, Mini 2) - or recommendation for anther drone?

john

Hi there,

before I subscribed to this forum, I searched the web and could find an answer.

My question is: When I use Dronelink with the DJI Mavic Mini, do I still have the distance limit of 500m from my homepoint when I use waypoints?

(I don't refer to the 500m height limit, I already know that this seems to be hardcoded in the DJI firmware)

And I have another question, if this limitation exists also with Dronelink. - is there another (pricewise and qualitywise) similar drone that you could recommend. (Actually, I just found a hint to the Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE, but I didn't have the time to check it out, and I don't know if this drone is supported by Dronelink)

The Mini 2 and X8 are not supported (see full list of system requirements).

As for the max distance, just issue a command to set it to whatever you want:

Note: the RC range of the Mini is pretty bad, so you probably won't be able to fly much farther than 500m anyway. Dronelink does not function outside of signal range.

    Thanks Jim,

that leads to another question. I assume, that dronelink will support also the DJI Mini 2, after the SDK will be provided by DJI

I own the the Mavic Mini, but I'm considering to buy the Mini 2 (and sell the Mavic Mini).

If I buy a hobbyist plan now for 20$ oder 40$, will I be able to use it also for the Mini 2 when/if dronelik supports it, or do I have to buy it again, or will there be an upgrade plan or so?

So the question for me is, does it make sense to, buy a hobbyist plan now, or should I wait until the Mini 2 is supported?

At the moment, all the hobbyist plans get free upgrades to the new versions of Dronelink.
