Mission Failed Camera Stop Capture | Camera Unavailable
I have used dronelink a few times with my Phantom 3 standard however while trying to map an area yesterday and today I get the same error once the drone arrives at the start point ready to start the mission. I am able to manually take photos. Any ideas as to why I am seeing this error? I have tried different memory cards.

This is an error message from the DJI SDK that Dronelink just passes through to the user. It typically indicates a hardware error, but it is hard to say in your case because you are manually able to take photos. Do any other camera commands work?
I am able to manually take pictures and move the camera the video feed also works on my phone while in flight. I have not tried to record any video however.
I mean can you put some other camera command in the mission plan, such as camera stop capture or camera mode or camera photo mode?
Jim, I am also getting the same msg. in a self made mapping mission, but my error comes near the end of a mission. It happened for the first time about 3 weeks ago and I actually forgot about it until it happened again today. The mission is approximately 14 minutes long and I have never completed it because of various error messages. For example: Drone off course, battery dropped to 19%, telemetry issues. I have tweeked the mission to try to make it complete and today I actually was near the end of the mission when I received the forgotten message. I went to the DJI forum and they said it was a Dronelink issue. I am using the Mini 1 with a Samsung S21 phone. I had the drone making a constant video which stopped as soon as receiving the msg. Any ideas?
Can you share a mission plan you want us to test?

This is the screenshot:
This has only happened twice but both times in the same location, but because of other issues, telemetry, off course, battery etc. I have only got to this point in the mission (recently) twice. I completed the mission a few times but the mission was much shorter and I had no issues.
I just flew this mission without errors, which leads me to believe your environment (interference, etc), drone (firmware, sd card, etc), or device may be the culprit, although I lean towards environment / interference, given the warning message on your status bar (image transmission signal weak).
The "Image transmission signal weak" has always been there. I have seen in the DJI Forums that many others have the same message and have been told it's nothing to worry about. I have the latest firmware so that should not be the issue. The msg occurs when starting the orbit in the middle which is right over my head. If I recall correctly that's the first time that it happened, when I added the orbit. We are in the middle of a Noreaster right now but when over I will experiment some more.
I just had this error with a Mavic Air 2 and the solution was to use a microSD card with faster I/O capabilities.
I have read through the above and several other threads regarding the "camera stop capture" issue...here are the particulars
Please share your mission plan.
jim,
don't know if this will work but made my "Willie's Repo" public and have included link to just one of the fields below (02p22)
i assume the public repo gives you access or even perhaps the private repo will provide access...either way you can look @ any of the fields as once i got one down as i wanted i simply copied and changed the radius to accommodate differences in the field size

much appreciation
jim,
by the way i can simply 'dismiss' the error message and then hit the start button when it becomes active and things work...at least until it comes to another time when it will toss the "camera stop capture" error again...get at least one error per field but not uncommon to get two

sorry for being such a novice...

Jim, Bill & Mike: From my last post, 5 months ago, my error msg. progressed. I was getting msgs. saying that the Gimbal was stuck to it was being overloaded. I finally had enough and contacted DJI. I sent them a video of me holding the drone and the Gimbal making a grinding sound, I would move it around and it would stop. I was on my last month of warranty on my third drone. They took it back and analyzed it and claimed the Gimbal arm needed to be replaced. Jim you may have been right, "the device may be the culprit". I don't know why the arm would be causing all these problems but I am due to get it back Wednesday, I will see what happens.
You have had bad luck Bob…
I don't know how much is actually bad luck or bad product? My neighbor just bought a DJI drone, not the mini, but I am not 100% sure which one, he is already getting error msgs. about processor overheating.
If it it intermittent like that, it is probably a DJI hardware or DJI sdk issue.
Jim, Can this be due to using the auto capture on each approach, then also using auto capture on each Orbit. I don’t know if the auto capture mode executes a stop capture command first then the start capture or just a start capture. If it doesn’t stop first then maybe this is think this is the issue. Also how about the achievement time at 0…. Just a thought. Whatever the case at least I’ll learn something new again.
You should definitely not use automatic captures at different levels as they will conflict with each other.
bill marek: I flew your Orbit mission as it was set up with my MA2 using a iPad Mini 5. Mission flew perfectly and recorded 6 videos. All 3 on the approaches and on each Orbit. As Jim stated it is probably a hardware issue so I’d try another device. Even though I didn’t have an issue, one other possibility is the auto capture on each approach then into the auto capture on Orbit. It is stopping and starting capture really quick between each destination and Orbit and may be an issue. Maybe try and remove just the auto capture on each approach since your only needing the orbit’s. Another option is to just start video at very beginning of mission and record all the way through instead of auto capture at all points. Maybe this will help.
mike,
where do i go to snag the 'auto capture' component...can't seem to find it??
mike,
my apologizes for being such a novice but can't seem to find "auto capture"...I added a bit of code that i snagged off one of the chats to see if that would work but alas, ran into the same problem (camera stop capture business)...i am including the new addition of the code here

it is field 02p22 in the public repo
It’s ok, we were all newbies at one time. Click on each of the Approach’s in the list and go down to bottom. Click on the little trash can icon and it will delete the auto capture. The same if wanting to delete at start of each Orbit.
You can set up the video to start at beginning and run all the way through like you did on your altered newer version. Just make sure you manually set the all the camera settings like IOS, shutter, resolution, white balance etc. before starting or, add those in that camera list at beginning. I like to set all my basic camera settings automatically so I don’t forget before start of mission. Each pilot has their way of setting up plans and it can be done in so many ways it comes down to how the pilot wants to do it.
I’m Sending an example of Video starting at beginning with all cameras commands set. You can add or change anything in that list. Hope this helps.

much, much thanks mike...sent you an email w/ the changes + an addition of a start video and a stop video before and following all of the commands
