DJI Mini 3 Pro - odd & dangerous behaviour with flight plan
Hello community,
after the recent update, our DJI Mini 3 Pro doesn't execute the planned flights anymore and furthermore acts very odd and does very random and dangerous maneuvers.
After starting everything up and the controller in "N"-Mode, dronelink always displays "P-GPS" as it's mode.
When we start a mission, the drone goes up and the start going crazy. Following things have happend:
- random yaw and spinning aroud
- the gimbal goas up and down
- drone goes down without command and could possibly have crashed into the ground.
We are using normal maps to fly over railway construction sites. Signal interference IS NOT the problem. When in manual flight, everything works fine and the drone can keep it's location perfectly. We also tried the same map and location with another drone and it went perfectly fine. A reset of the drone and deinstalling dronelink and dji fly doesn't help either. We have tried every basic solution to get it to work again but nothing helped.
So the only guess is that something is wrong with dronelink or the version of the app. I will add all the information about our mission down below but I hardly believe that they have to do anything with that, as these settings have worked for us plenty of times.

Any help and support is welcome as we need this to work again asap.
Kind regards,
Lukas

We don't know as it doesn't happen for us on any firmware version.
If you sent it directly to DJI then no need to send it to us.
¿Me recomendáis descargarme versiones anteriores?
Hardware y software utilizado:
Dronelink DJI 5.0.0 (298) Kernel 5.0.0 // DJI Fly v1.15.4 (1220-oficial) // DJI mini 3 RC-N1 // Redmi note 13 pro - Redmi 9 T
We have said it before, and I will say it again: we are not able to reproduce this issue, and running a previous version of Dronelink is not a long-term solution. If you want to help us find a solution, you need to send the logs to DJI as outlined previously.
Could anyone give me an update on how the status is with the issue as we haven't used dronelink in the past 2 Months?
Is the bug still present? If so: which workaround works at this time?
We are on Versoin 5.0.0 (298) | Kernel 5.0.0
No updates as we are still not able reproduce the issue, and no one has sent all the flight logs to DJI, AFAIK.
Thanks for the report, but as I already stated, we are still not able to reproduce this issue so there is no fix.
Does the problem depend on the external device used (tablet) or the firmware version?
Thanks
How do you get around the “dancing drone” bug until it's fixed?
The method depends on one of the three ways in which the bug appears.
In this case, don't touch anything.
However, it's best to limit the number of times you close/launch the Dronelink DJI application to avoid the second case below.
Sometimes the bug appears when starting a mission or, very rarely, during a mission.
The more often the Dronelink DJI application is closed and relaunched, the more frequently the drone starts spinning at the start of a mission.
The solution is to ensure that the Dronelink DJI application is never closed.
Here's an example of a configuration that has proved its worth during at least 73 missions:
- As soon as the bug appears: install the application again on a dedicated smartphone, reusing the APK file in the Download folder; then re-configure the Dronelink DJI application to suit your needs.
- use another smartphone (or tablet) to set firmware parameters with DJI Fly or to use Dronelink (for a DJI mini 2, for example)
- if Android requires updating, Dronelink DJI will need to be reinstalled, as it will have been shut down for the update to take place.
To pilot the drone, it should be placed in manual mode at a height above any obstacle within 15 m (30 ft) of the mission start point. A height of 20 m is generally enough.
When programming the Dronelink mission, we suggest that you place a checkpoint component 30 m (98 ft) before and after the mission, to give yourself time to see if the bug appears.
You're out of luck. This was the situation yours truly experienced from February to mid-March 2024 with the first bug that systematically crashed the application just before the camera's video stream was displayed.
https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=310518
It was only after the application had been installed several times that it would work properly as long as it wasn't closed.
For the “dancing drone” bug, it's proposed to do the same, as there's a similarity with this first bug.
Hardware and software used
Drone DJI mini 3 ; firmware : v01.00.0500
Remote RC-N1 ; Firmware v04.16.0500
Application DJI Fly : 1.15.1 (avec un iPhone 11)
DroneLink DJI Version 5.0.0 (296) ; Kernel 5.0.0
Android Smartphone :
Samsung Galaxy A34 5G (sans carte SIM) ;
Android 14 ; OneUI 6.1 ;
For me Mini 3 Pro with RC N1 with DroneLink DJI 4.9.3 (the link was somewhere in this topic) flew as expected with the Galaxy Tab A8 tablet and danced with the Galaxy XCover 5 phone.

Edit of September 14, 2025:
With Dronelink DJI version 5.2.1(307) | Kernel 5.2.0, it is necessary to restart the application if the smartphone was not connected to a network.
Otherwise, the application will display the no network icon, even if the smartphone has since connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot.
This restart does not seem to cause the “dancing drone” bug to reappear.
Otherwise, take inspiration from the approach described at :
https://sdk-forum.dji.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/39140508432409-Abandoned-drone-during-a-mission-with-Dronelink-4-9-4-295
this would allow DJI to know that the bug continues to occur randomly.
IN my experience, this was solved by reducing the mission flight speed- - - any latency results in back and forth compensation and when speeds are HIGH - the "Virtual Stick" situation is a dog chasing its tail - reduced from 24mph > 18 and it fixed my issues.
It has been noted that in all videos related to this thread, the message “uploading mission de...” appears when the drone behaves strangely and dangerously :

The consequence is that this bug cannot appear in the US, as these pilots are located near the Dronelink servers.
Here is the solution to prevent this bug from occurring :
- Download the mission to be carried out by disabling “Offline mode”
- Switch to “Offline mode” before starting the mission.
Without having to use a VPN, there is another simpler solution for causing one of these bugs to occur locally.
This involves using an Android smartphone without a SIM card.
This smartphone is placed in "on line mode" and connected to a nearby fixed Wi-Fi hotspot.
An assistant stands by to unplug the RJ45 connector from this hotspot when the pilot requests it.
For the “dancing drone” bug, the RJ45 connector is unplugged just before launching a mission. It is best to place the drone at a sufficient height to recover it if it starts to descend rapidly toward the ground.
For the “navigation error” bug, the RJ45 plug is unplugged during the mission. Then you just have to wait for a “Uploading mission de...” to take place.
I had the same issue yesterday, using my mini 3 pro with dronelink for the first time.
From what I understood reading this thread dronelink version is not the problem as I am using 5.2.1.
Have you come to any conclusion is it the phone?
Recalibrating the drone may help?
I can fly manually with DJI Fly, but I really needed to do a waypoint mission.
Here is the solution to prevent this bug from occurring : put on “Offline mode” before starting the mission.
"Wi-Fi" disabled & "Airplane mode" on
Offline mode is confirmed by Dronelink with this icon
To load a new mission, you will need to restart the DJI Dronelink app after reactivating cellular data or WiFi.
Edit 12/20/2025 : However, it is possible to load several missions for later use offline.

As soon as the message “uploading mission de...” appears, the telemetry freezes and the drone no longer receives commands from the Dronelink DJI app.
It has been found that the “dancing drone” bug occurs because the “uploading mission from...” function takes priority over the drone's flight control.
Here are some suggestions for software upgrades to prevent this bug from recurring :
- S1: If the mission upload is performed using the TCP (Transport Control Protocol), it would be preferable to use UDP (User Datagram Protocol) instead. The UDP protocol is much faster than TCP. This would prevent the drone from being blocked while waiting for the mission upload to complete.
- S2: Set a timeout on the mission uploading function. If this threshold is exceeded, Dronelink takes over the virtual control stick even if the mission upload was not successful.
- S3: Set the “uploading mission de...” function as the second priority. In my humble opinion, compared to the possibility of resuming the mission exactly where it was left off, the most important thing is the control of the drone. In addition, this would prevent jerky movements of the drone when the speed of flight and wind are low.
What is the complete message of “Uploading mission de...” ?
This is just an indicator showing what the app has always done in the background. Dronelink saves the latest state of the mission to your account so you can see the progress in the web dashboard, and resume missions across different devices.
Thanks Jim for the reply.
However, it has been found that this action does not take place in the background at all.
During this upload, DJI Dronelink no longer controls the drone.
A video is currently being edited to demonstrate this using actual flight footage.
As I already said, the indicator is just a UI on top of what the app has already been doing for years. From what I can tell, there appears to be an issue with syncing when using specific networks in France, which is why we can never reproduce the issue. Others have stated that putting the device into the airplane mode seems to be the work-around.
