is there a way to change/add better maps?
I do construction update work and the maps are several YEARS old which makes it difficult to plan missions...

Hi Randy. If you look through the DL help articles and/ or search in the forum you will find the answers to the majority of common questions. There are dozens of threads regarding the map layers going back years. Here is one tutorial video but there may be others on how to import layers or boundary points etc. You can switch between Mapbox and Here Satellite images in the Web app in the bottom right corner but they are usually very similar. All mapping imagery can be anywhere from a year old to 5 years old or more so none are what some call up to date. If it’s a newer construction zone I doubt any of them are recent. The other thing you can do is use the On the Fly functions so you may want to look at those help articles. I’ve included a Mapping On the Fly article with a tutorial video. Hope that helps. Good luck…..

Thanks but none of those links address the issue, which is that adding a raster layer and importing updated map imagery are both basic functionalities that need to be available for paying customers. Please update us on the dev timeline for adding these or get ready to be widely regarded as a useless and misleading paid app.
I'd also like to see the ability to add custom geotiff's as a layer. If the Mapbox/here imagery it too out of date I could fly an map mission at a high altitude to create an up to date orthomosaic, then add that geotiff as a layer to use to plan more detailed lower altitude missions.
Just add the geotiff to Google earth and plan in there and then import the kml
