Vertical videos - gimbal roll only 15 degrees

Daniel Larsson
I am struggling with shooting vertical videos (more suitable for IG) in dronelink using my DJI mini 3 pro. In the DJI fly app there is a button for switching between vertical/horizontal, but I haven't found a comparison in dronelink. I have however found that you can adjust trim which means you have to click 900 times to get to +/-90 degrees, which is what I want, but after 15 degrees it stops rotating. I have also tried to program it in the in the plans by setting the gimbal roll to 90, but same thing there, it only automatically changes to 15 degrees, which I assume is the highest. Please could someone help me in this matter? Is it completely impossible to record in vertical mode?

Thank you! As I understand the French pilot
    1) rotated the camera in dji fly
    2) turned off orientation lock in dji fly
    3) turned off dji fly
    4) turned on dronelink.
    Is this correct?
Is there any plan on adding this feature (portrait button) to dronelink, or at least be able to do it in missions, in the near future?
Otherwise this application becomes rather redundant for dji mini 3 pro users I think.

What makes you say that, personally I've never seen the point of a portrait camera on a drone, as generally speaking with a drone you're filming landscapes, so landscape is the obvious orientation to use whatever drone you're flying

Okey maybe not entirely redundant, but since I primarily put up the videos on Instagram and the video really becomes small there if I use vertical I prefer the vertical mode.

Do you know however if would be the same video quality if I were to cut the video in the middle for example when I edit?

I don’t use any social media stuff and also never use portrait. However, as long as you only crop off the sides it doesn’t change the resolution quality even if you manually crop just the sides. You should be able to see how it works with your editing app.
