Overlap flying in 8 directions at 45 degrees to the ground
I am flying a Mavic 2 Pro to map a farm with buildings etc.
If I capture photos at 45 degrees, and in 8 different directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) what overlap should I use to get a high quality 3d model?
80% would require too much time. Would 60% give a high quality result?
I am using DJI Terra to process it.

3D is a bit of a black art. I've had good results with 70deg and 45deg.
I put out some videos about 3D. There's quite a few of them including an end to end from planning to processing. Here's a link to the playlist with them all in - it should give you some ideas.

I don't fly any mapping mission with less than 80% overlap especially if I want a decent model
And mind the lighting conditions. You need the right day and the right time.
Black art - good one Barry.
So I have had great results in the past by flying in 4 directions with 80% overlap to the front and side at 45m.
But the buildings are closer together in this area so I want to try 8 directions. The question remains if I am using this configuration, surely a reduction in overlap would be appropriate.
I guess the other issue is that with 4 directions, I was using a P1 on an M300 which is a 45mp camera if I remember correctly. But I only have a 20mp camera on the Mavic 2 pro for this capture. Hoping to make up for this a little by flying at 35m instead of 45m.
I will check out the videos over the weekend. Cheers for the link.
Note: I usually use ODM. It gives super 3d models but I am using DJI Terra for this as ODM only seems to be able to process up to 5k images. I am expecting this to be close to 12k images.
