Trying to resolve a challenge building a safe orbit video plan.

Andy Clay

I have a dji mini 3 pro. It lacks side sensors, so when it moves sideways its obstacle avoidance system is blind to things in its sideways path.

I'm planing a drone link obit with the object of interest in the center of the orbit. However there are big and small trees in the circle of the projected orbit.

Since my drone has obstacle avoidance when facing the direction of travel I thought the best way to safely see if the orbit path I have in mind is clear is to do an orbit with the camera facing the line of travel. If I record this and see it adjusts its height, then I would change the height of the object of interest plan to adjust for this.

First would this plan work to safely check the orbit path? Secondly is there a setting in a dronelink plan to have it record the orbit path its on and not an object of interest? And if so will obstacle avoidance work while its recording this test orbit at the same time?
