Lost Drone on my first Mission. Dronelink APP
Hello everyone,
I recently encountered a situation where my drone lost all RC connection during a mission and failed to reconnect, leading to its disappearance. Despite my efforts to locate it at the last known point on the map, the drone was nowhere to be found. The home point was nearby, and even though the Return-to-Home (RTH) function was set, the drone did not return.
I have uploaded the flight data for review here:
https://app.airdata.com/share/VOswfF/GENERALOverview
I have reached out to DJI, but they have mentioned that it's outside of their care. I am now contemplating the next steps.
I am wondering if Dronelink could be held responsible if this issue was caused by a bug or something regarding the app. Should I accept this as an unfortunate incident, or is there more that can be done? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

Looking at that Airdata report it had a good signal right up to the end, and its either in the middle of the field or out on the road, I trust you had it insured
There were no indications of issues up to the point of the loss of contact.
Most likely scenario is that the battery became swollen during flight and pushed it away from the contacts. That would cause an instant loss of connection like this. This is a known problem on those models and something you need to watch for.
There are other options. Software failure is probably one of the least likely TBH.
You can use the Find My Drone feature in the DJI app to help locate it. This is especially true if the drone is still active (not the case if the battery came out). This video might help a bit https://youtu.be/FOCNwsFn7Mc
Agree. Dronelink really doesn't have any responsibility. You are in command of the drone at all times, and can always exit the automation. The drones native built-in RTH, sensors for obstacle avoidance etc are all there and working and not part of your dronelink experience.
I agree with the battery issue. Had many Mavic 2pro and Mavic 2zoom batteries expand, swell and pop. DJI redesigned this entire scenario in newer models.
Remember, whether the mission goes good or bad, it's always the pilot in command.
