Android app doesn't open when offline

Yaaseen Bodhanya

The Dronelink Android app doesn't seem to work on my device if I open it while offline (Samsung Galaxy A52S, running Android 14)

If I open the app while online (and download my missions for offline usage) and keep the app open in the background, it still functions fine if I go offline. However, if I try to open the app while I'm offline (without it running in the background from when I was last online), the app gets stuck on the purple loading screen.

Is this a bug or is this intended behaviour? Seems a little weird to prevent the app from opening when offline, considering a lot of its functionality works perfectly fine when offline.

Tested on another phone (Samsung Galaxy A33, also running Android 14), and the issue is present there as well

Yes, exactly! I have the same problem.
When I try to open the app, the purple circle always turns with a black screen. What should I do?
I use the DJI RC Pro conroller with Dronelink installed.

Tested on yet another phone (Tecno Spark 10 Pro, running Android 13), and the same issue is present there.

The Z4 is running on Android 14.

Have you made sure that you've granted all the permissions & that DJI fly isn't running in the background

Have you made sure that you've force closed DJI fly

I've made sure that DJI Fly was force closed, yes. And on one of the test phones (The Tecno Spark), DJI Fly wasn't even installed.

Both Martin and I have no issues when using the DL app while off-line. Martin is using an Android OS device and I’m using an iPad 11 Pro. So two completely different devices and operating systems and I can load any mission I already downloaded for off-line and run them. Don’t know why the devices you’re using would be any different as this has always worked for over three years for me. Maybe something in the way the settings are for the DL app but unless DL staff has any ideas it’s hard to say. It’s no different than when using the DJI Fly app with a device which has no service in an area. The app still works otherwise it would be useless. Only thing I’d suggest to do is delete any and all DL apps you may have installed and then delete all DL APK’s on the device. Then install the DL app from the Dronelink download page and go through the set up process and try then. If it still persist then I’m out of suggestions. Good luck.

Thanks Martin and Mike. I've followed your suggestions, but the offline issue is still present, unfortunately.

I did notice today that if I haven't signed into the app, then it opens while offline. But if I'd previously signed into the app with my account, then it doesn't open while offline. Which indicates that it's an issue with my account, possibly some license verification check that's failing when offline. I'm not 100% certain about this, but I think this issue started around the time I upgraded from the Hobbyist Elite plan to the Professional Starter plan. This was also around the time I upgraded from Android 13 to 14, which is why I initially thought it was related to that instead.

Is there a way to get in touch with Dronelink support staff directly? I'd assumed that posting here would allow me to communicate with both the community as well as staff, but that doesn't seem to be the case. And there doesn't seem to be a support email address listed that I can find.

Thanks again for the suggestions and assistance.

    Hello Martin
Everything is fine! Downloaded and installed the BETA apk on the RC Pro, worked like a charm!
And what I'm really happy about is that the bug is also fixed for me that I couldn't open Dronelink on the RC Pro when offline.
Super! Super! Super! Dronelink Team you are the greatest! :-)

Is there an automatic notification somewhere for Android (DJI RC Pro) when a new BETA app is available? Like TestFlight for IOS? Or do I occasionally have to search for it myself?
    Is it published somewhere?
    Thanks for your help!

    Thank you Martin
So also with a new BETA, whether BETA or normal update? Because I have not received a message for this current beta 4.9.1.
