Assigning a specific drone to an orbit, Pano, or waypoint mission
Is there a reason why I cannot assign a specific drone to these types of missions?
I can, however, assign a specific drone for 2D & 3D maps, as well as a Facade or Linear mission.

Hey David. This was just asked and you can read the other thread. Only reason you select the drone in any mapping component is because the sensor needs to be correct to calculate the overlaps.

Basically because you don't need to, the reason you assign a drone to maps, facades etc is so that you get the correct image overlap, which is going to be effected by the field of view of the camera
Yes, I understand that. But with all the new enterprise drones hitting the market, with multiple payloads included. It would be advantageous to be able to choose which camera to use on Waypoints, Pano, and Orbits. The Mavic 3 Pro has 3 different cameras, The Matrice 30T has 4 payloads that can be used. A thermal pano can be useful, also capturing both RGB and Thermal on waypoints as well. Taking advantage of orbits for cardinal point tower inspection plus capturing zoom camera data at the same time would be a time saver in a lot of my jobs.
In those cases you might be able to insert a command at the start of the mission telling it which camera to use
Are you asking because you want to be able to assign a camera at the time of the mission? e.g. You want to be able to specify that the IR camera is active on a M3T, or that a specific zoom level is applied on a Mavic 3E? The Mavic 3 Pro doesn't have an SDK so that particular one won't work with 3rd party software.
Some of this might be possible today. There is a zoom level that you can apply that I assume would select the right lens by default - not sure, I have not tried it.
Or...
Are you asking for planning purposes because you want to see what that FOV looks like in a preview?
For that last one you can do that by selecting the camera in the drop down (three dots) in the preview window and selecting the camera you are interested in.
Bottom line it’s not possible as mentioned in the link because the Web app has no way of connecting to your drone to know which one it is. Just select the camera before the mission in the DJI app where you can also set up all the exposer settings. Once it’s set up the mission will run with that selected camera along with any exposures settings since all the settings stick across apps. It doesn’t take any more time to do this since you will need to wait for enough Satellites to be acquired which may take at least a minute, maybe two.
Or you can select which camera in the DL Native app before starting the mission if they are available. However, some settings like Video Resolution and FR, Photo interval time and some others can’t be set in the Native app manually so they would need to be set in the DJI app before anyway or, with a camera command list in the plan at the very beginning to set the camera. I know Barry has the M3E and I’m sure he sets up which camera he uses one way or another. As Barry mentioned the mission preview has the ability to select the Drone and which camera to see what the mission will look like. Hope all the information given from us here helps. Good luck.
Thanks everyone, for all the great feedback!
